Ah, you had HFOD ....Head-Falling-Off Disease.  LOLOL.  That happens to everyone till they begin to use a little armature between the head and shoulders (a broken toothpick, e.g), some liquid clay as glue, make lots of good contact there, or let the parts sit overnight before baking, etc.)  I can't tell you how often kids in my classes would get either HFOD or AFOD (that's for arms), and how many I had to put back together.  (Kids have a tendency to stick arms straight out from figures rather than pressing them partly to bodies, which makes that disease really frequent!

Great tips! I'll get started making more only now without having to worry about the HFOD.

I'll have to take a picture but I glued a loop of string to the head and so now the bear is holding its head in its paw.
