Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could offer me some suggestions for a graphic or photo that represents polymer clay art? I've been doing this for so long I don't even know what the general public would recognize as being associated with it!
I don't know if I should just use a block of clay, or some random tools, or what. I was thinking a pasta machine, but I bet most people have no idea what they're used for in the PC world.
Any ideas? What do you think of when you think of it?
Or maybe I should just put up the name on the banner and leave it at that? I don't know, any help would be appreciated!

I think it would be neat to have a stack of clay on one side and the pasta machine on the other... I'm not really a PC person (I'm trying! I bought some, but so far just literally burned my pieces) but just through watching craft shows and flipping channels, walking through michaels, I know that pasta machines are used to flatten the clay and whatnot. I think putting that in your banner would be neat. I mean, if I didn't know what it was used for in the pC world, I'd definitely stop and look to find out!

**eta I'll throw a banner together for you when I get home from work to show you what I mean.

Does anyone like either of these as a base? I was thinking of putting something on either side. The background on the second one is a photo of something I made with clay. I don't know if they'd look better with a slight outline around them either.

I like 'em both... hmm... I think I like the first one a smidge better.
You could incorporate some of your best items into your banner.  Maybe update it with "featured" items every so often.  Smiley

Eek! I'm so sorry... I forgot to throw that banner together to show you.

I like yours, but I'm thinking it might be a bit busy? I would go with the busy background and a solid font or a solid background and a busy font. It's a bit more eyecatching that way and your store name (and the image if you put them on either side) pop out rather than the eye trying to take in the entire banner. Does that make sense?

OOOhh...ahhh... I like that, titancia!  Smiley

I just got done stalking her (LOL) to steal pictures of her completed projects.  I'm fussing with a banner too!

I think it would be easier with input from her though, as to what sorts of things she is going to sell and the "feel" of her shop.  Smiley  Right now, I'm just designing with what I want to see and not giving a lick about what she wants, LOL.  Tee hee!

Geez. you guys are awesome talented with banners and computers! I'm just getting into polymer clay, and I love the clay on one side, and the roller on the other. Clean, cool, eye catching. I vote for that one!

Lol...I agree!! I just wanted to throw something together to show her what I was trying to explain in my above post... I'm afraid people have trouble understanding my babble and would much rather prefer to SEE what I'm talking about instead of my confusing them. Tongue (I haven't yet stalked her store. Mwahaha.)

Sockdiva, Thank you for the compliment. Smiley It literally took me five minutes just to throw it together as an example of what I was trying to explain.

Your babble made total sense to me.  Smiley  BUT, it didn't look anything like the banner you actually posted!  My twisted, tired mind was picturing LITERALLY a pile of globs of clay and an Easy Bake Oven.  ROFL.

I have issues.   Grin
