I have just begun crocheting and I am having trouble turning stitches, my first attempt ( I did just rows of single stitches) came out pretty well but rather warped. I have read various instructions and now I am just plain ol' frusterated!

All you gals are very talented so I am sure you could help me!!!

Any good books or websites to suggest?

i'm not quite sure what you mean by turning stitches.  do you mean when you get to the end of the row and need to get to the next one?
