Sweets4ever has some freaking amazing melted bead creations in the reconstruced housewears section of the home and garden thread. After she made the starry night piece (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=16741431.0) I decided that I was artistic and crafty enough to make a wondow piece also. I bragged to my mom that I was going to make something for my aunt. She just put down her cat who was 15+ years old this week and is moving to a new house the begining of July. She also lost a spotted dog to cancer a few years ago so I figured Id make her a piece of her late pets so that way they would be with her at her new house. I should have known pre-oven but I figured, hey, its just because I used blue beads and they will melt out in the oven and look fine:

Yeah. It came out of the oven and looked even worse. Thanks alot Jean for crushing my dreams of stained glass splendour. Grin

I think it still looks pretty neat....just don't tell anyone what it was supposed to be...it was a random piece, you could say.

i think if you used a larger pan, like a big cookie sheet, it would be more defined.....or use really small beads (might be more difficult though). don't get discouraged.  I tried the lampshade and it turned out pretty good.  I posted it under Sweets post.  Here's the link http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=16740688.msg970212#msg970212

try, try again! the beads are cheap enough!

Hmm, I can see the cat, but not the dog. If you're willing to do another one, just work on the dog's shape, maybe use a little more beads for the doggie?

Either way, I love this one how it is. Makes me want to use the beads I have to make something.

aww. That was really sweet to do for her. And I like it. I can see the cat, and if I look for a minute, I can see the dog too! But as peardream said, try again!

To me, the cat looks more like a dog and the dog looks more like a cat, but I definitely recognize them as animals!  Grin

I wonder if you could use smaller beads for the animals to help define their shapes and larger beads for the solid areas closer to the edges? Not sure if the gaps would be too big for it to melt right, though.

I can see something that could be either a cat or a dog, and something else that could be...something else. [grin]

But teasing aside, don't give up. Try try and try again! Pony beads are cheap. I have yet to try my hand at bead melting, and have also been inspired by sweets4ever - I'm sure my first attempt will be much worse than this, I'm rubbish at everything really :-p

I'd try something easier first - mine was a round "plate" with a triforce outline. Then I did a beach scene - a palm tree in the foreground, a dark blue for the sky (with a crescent moon) and a lighter blue and green for the water.

Basically work your way up.
