Thanks!!! I gotta practice doing grandma things now while I can see so I can do it when I can't. Wink

I thought working with crochet thread would be hard but it's not too bad.  The only thing is that with a small hook you get cramping.  But I saw in a post a while ago using clay to make a thicker handle.  Pretty neat. Thanks again.

Thanks for loving my doily and I'm glad that you're trying it out.  Cheesy

Okay, so I finally figured out what you're talking about the sl st in side and top lps of sc it's when you're doing the picot, I don't know if you know how to do a picot but I'll try to explain. So doing the whole picot is this part of the instructions sc in next sp, ch2, sl st in side and top lps of sc Does that make more sense?  Undecided  If it doesn't I'll see if I can explain it better. I know I got a bit confused at that point but once it makes sense it's not too bad. Wink Have fun.

Oh, I have a question for you cause I've seen what a great stuff you've posted do you know what this means? hdc2tog over next 2 hdc I have no idea how to do that. I'm making a dress for my daughter and I'm stuck about what i'm suppose to do with the shoulder straps. Huh The pattern is here http://www.bhg.com/bhg/story.jhtml?storyid=/templatedata/bhg/story/data/GreatGifts_FloralDress_09252003.xml&catref=S10&page=3

Hey Cool beans....thank you for circling the picot.  I am going to have to give the doily another go!
So do you sl st into the side than again sl st in the top of the same st? (so its like 2 moves in the same st)?

I am using lion brand cotton ease yarn that I thought was thin enough but its difficult to see the pattern....so I went out and bought some thinner cotton crochet thread in yellow, and I am gonna make some doilies for my grandma for her upcoming b'day.

Funny you asked me about the "hdc2tog over next 2 hdc's" b/c I just tackled that in a recent pattern.
I am currently on vacation and do not have the book with me that made me understand this move.
From what I remember though, you do 1 normal hdc in the 1st st indicated but leave the last lps on the hook and do the next hdc in the next st also leaving the last lps on the hook, then you YO and pull up all lps on hook
Thanks for the compliment also....I really enjoy your projects that you post too!!!! Nice to meet you and Happy Crocheting!    ~M

Ello there Laamissa,

Okay, ummm, no it's not 2 moves.  It's one.  You slip stitch through both the side and top loops of the single crochet at the same time. I'm sure your grandma will love your doilies.  Smiley

Thanks for helping me out with that pattern.  It makes a lot more sense now.  I was a like what's going on and this doesn't look right.  So glad there are other people who know what they're doing!! Grin Have fun on your vacation!!

Ha! I knew no one would like my doily. Smiley Oh, well that's okay!! It was still fun to make.

Dude I think that looks pretty cool. The only doilies I've tried making are from patterns I've thought up in my head. lol. That looks awesome though, I wanna give it a try sometime ^_- Good job.

I tried the link hoping it would lead me to this doily pattern knowing very well that it most likely has changed. Would anyone know where I could find this? I've tried looking on Michaels website but I'm having some trouble narrowing down my search.

I understand this post is old but I hd to give it a try anyway.

Hey Chaos,

I'll look for the pattern.  I think I may still have the leaflet around here somewhere.  Just PM me your email address and then I can email it to you.
