I got a terrific Japanese pattern book for old-fashioned potholders. I love the way Japanese crochet is always shown in charts. I thought I'd never try thread crochet, but I love it.  These are my first three potholders. They are more decorative than practical. I'm currently using them as coasters.   I wasnt want to do every design in this book in every color.  Good thing crochet thread was on sale at Hobby Lobby last week!

Here is the first one I did:

Next was this one with lavender flowers.  It took forever!

Finally I did this cherry one for my mom who collects red vintage thread crochet potholders.

Thanks for looking!

I forgot to put up my pic of this book.  I got it at YesAsia:

Here are more potholders that I plan to make:

And finally, in case anyone is intersted, this is the YesAsia listing.  http://us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/code-j/section-books/pid-1003967098/

I'm off to potholder heaven!

Those look great!

I like the tea cannister one on the cover of the book.  Be sure to post the others as you get them done!

Thanks folks!  I like the blue and white one too, I want to do that one in some different colors to go with my assortment of Fiestaware.

I can't imagine how people make whole tablecloths with thread crochet.  I like it, but the monotony of such a large project.... Thank goodness I have some of Grandma's tablecloths.  She made them for everyone in the family.
