I'm not a jewellery making person, but... I made these things out of beads and buttons.

First up, I strung these coconut shell buttons together:

It's my first, so it's for me. I really like it.

I then proceeded to go nuts and buy loads of beads and buttons. Well, I got the stones below from a bead shop in Hong Kong:

I'm hoping someone can tell me what the round stones are. I brilliantly forgot to hang on to the packaging.

Finally, some chokers:

The red one is for me, it's red wooden beads and some metal beads I got at an art and craft shop in Singapore. The other one is going to be a birthday present for my mum. It's wooden leopard print beads (from Hong Kong) with er matching dark brown and orange wooden beads purchased in the fabric market in Xiamen, China.

Comments, opinions, thoughts? Please note I have no technique and as such, I avoid using more expensive stones. The only one is that one I can't name, I remember it was pricier than anything else I'd bought.

those all look great, especially for someone who doesn't make jewelry. The coconut shell buttons look awesome, so earthy and I love the red choker...they're all really cool, and I'm sure your mom will love the choker...and that's so cool that you can get beads/buttons from so many different places. Good job!

I think all of them came out well, and the first one is my favorite.  Very fitting for summer.

I really like the button bracelet.  The round beads you paid a bit more for might be jade, but I'm not sure.

I don't think it's jade... it's kind of a smoky grey blue, light in colour. For some reason the name sodalite comes to mind, but I looked it up and the colours don't seem right.

Thanks for the comments, everyone! I don't think I'll be changing my focus from crochet and bag making to jewellery making, but I do now have loads of beads and buttons I can use to make my own accessories... which I really like doing.

If anyone wants to do a personal swap for super cheap Chinese made wooden beads/buttons, let me know, I'm leaving China in a month's time.

maybe aventurine?

Maybe. I guess I'll never know. I'm such an idiot for not keeping the packet.

Yeah, Amanelle, I like the flower beads, too. I think they're feminine but not too sweet. They come in a few colours, but so far I've only bought blue.

The blue stone could be celestite or calcedony  Smiley

Just because something doesn't do what you planned it to do doesn't mean it's useless.

Maybe it is opal? Or moon stone?  That's what I remember my mom's called them.  My mom loves buying beads for jewelry in Hong Kong and mainland China.
