After seeing this dress on Dress a Day, I knew I had to make one.  It's the first sewing projet I havwe made in a long time, but it came out well. 
Pattern: McCall's 5137
Fabric: cotton print.  The black flowered I picked up at Hancock on clearence and the red swirly fabric was given to me by my grandma.
Pattern Mods:  I made a size 8, rather than a 16, since I don't want 12" of ease.  Because I made it so much smaller I ended up needing to put a zipper in it.  I also made the bottom band skinnier.

that is really nice dress, i really like the style of it for some reason. it doesn't look that hard, but how was it really?

Pretty!  I have this pattern.  Simplicity also has a Duro-inspired dress pattern.  It's #4072.

Very nice! That's the kind of dress you can wear for many occasions. I like that the red bands aren't just solid red...the swirls give it character.

It looks great! I tried McCalls 5137 in cotton too, but I made it shirt-length, and I would take that back if I could. Proportionally it's really meant to be dress-length. But I've decided that top doesn't count, it's my muslin, so now I know what I'll do differently! Yours looks fantastic. I like the black print especially.

Very pretty.  I really like your fabric choice too!  I almost picked this pattern up when they went on sale this weekdend, but wound up putting it back since my daughter told me that she didn't think I could pulll this look off.  I'm not sure if I should be thankful I had someone honest to give me feedback or I should wonder what she meant by that comment! Huh Grin
