I made a blue dachshund plushie for my sister. It is made with fuzzy blue polar fleece from a sweater. The eyes are buttons. My sister named her Pixie, and I put a heart in her (ghetto build a bear) before sewing her close. The head and legs are stuffed with socks rather than stuffing so they can be stiffer.

I got the pattern and directions here: http://dollmaker.nunodoll.com/dog/dachshund.html
They have a lot of doll patterns.

It turned out great. I can't believe you did all the sewing by hand. You did a great job. I never thought of using socks as a sturdy substitute for stuffing. That was a really neat idea.

Dachshund are my favorite doggies! You're so lucky to have one.

And yup, socks are great stuffing. Just roll them up =)

Awwww!  Pixie makes me feel so blue...in a good way!  You've really captured the essence of a dachshund!  And I love special touch of "giving her a heart!"
