This was my first shawl and I'm very pleased with how it turned out.  The pattern is really easy to memorize.  http://secure.elann.com/ShowFreePattern.asp?Id=107024

I used Knitpicks Andean Silk in Sangria.  this stuff is extremely soft.

I'm surprised.. I am actually able to wear this thing despite the South Texas summer.  It was great at the cold movie theater last night.

Looks great.  I am working on this project right now with a spicey pumpkin alpaca yarn my dad picked up for me in Peru.  But I am worried that it looks too small.

Lovely, so very nice.  Was this a very time-consuming shawl?
(ps - love your haircut!)

Holy crap, thank you so much!!! I had seen this shawl on elann about 4 months ago, and then promptly forgot where I saw the pattern and what it was called.  I thought I'd never find it again!!  Definitely going to make one, and now you've even found a good yarn substitute that's easy to get.  Way to go you! hm..  it wasn't like knitting a potholder, but also it wasn't quite like knitting an afghan.  I started it in April and worked on and off until maybe the first week of June.  But I wasn't solely working on it and I also had papers to write and exams to take.  I'd say it was a medium amount of time.

I definitely had to poke around a bit before I found the pattern link again.  It's under their free patterns section.
