I was at Target today yesterday, trying to think of what I had to buy, when I remembered that I was going to take the easy way out of making myself a shirtdress that I'd seen on FitzPatterns.

$8 men's button-down shirt into..

.. my new shirtdress!

The color looks different in every picture, I know, because they were taken at different times during the morning (I haven't slept  Undecided that's what summer break does to you) while I was reconstructing it. The most accurate portrayal of the color is in the second picture, where I hadn't added the puffed sleeves yet. Final product is the last picture.

I plan on wearing another shirt underneath. Don't want my baseballs falling out, & I'm sure my boyfriend doesn't either.  Tongue

Thanks for looking!

That is so awesome!  I've been looking for a dress like that, but can't find one that fits.  Was it hard to make?

That is SUPER CUTE! Did you wing it, or did you use a pattern? I looked over at the FitzPatterns site, but I didn't see the shirtdress. Maybe I missed it?

Thank you guys!

The shirtdress on Fitz is called Fabienne.
http://www.fitzpatterns.com/Pages/FABIENNE/0505_Fabienne_Shirtdress_PatternPage.htm

I didn't use a pattern, I pretty much winged it. I figured it's just resizing a super big shirt. It wouldn't have been as complicated to make if I had thought it through more. I didn't measure myself & accidentally made it too small at first (so small, in fact, that I couldn't button anything below my waist), so I had to add fabric back on & that wasn't much fun at all. Other than that, I think that if you measure & cut everything accurately the first time, it should be cake.
