I feel like if I get one awesome thing per package, I am a lucky girl. Anything more than that is gravy.  Smiley

Thats how I feel.

That's a tough call, but I would say that if you really love the rest of the package, and it's obvious she spent a lot of time on everything, let it go. What if she threw in one more item that meant nothing to you? Would that be any better than getting the four great things she worked so hard on?

but.....again.....w hat if the louse didnt even think of the package and just went out and got a bunch of storbought stuff? Call me old fashioned, but if you are are doing a craft swap you need to actually craft something.

Now, If I swap, and I get less than the total, but the items are ROCKIN', then I can't complain. IF I got one well crafted item, some store-bought, I'd still be happy Smiley

Even "crummy" would make me happy, as long as there was thought and time put into it. I haven't swapped, because I know my skills stink, and I am not clever enough....

I feel bad for all the people who have gotten the bad end of the stick swap wise. I understand sending something that looks awesome to the maker, but the reciever thinks isn't great, just because the sent item is tons better than anything else the maker ever made!

You know I got an item once that was perfect for the swap, I liked it a lot but then I was like what do I do with it? It does not match my house....or my office and it is a decorative item.  I looked at it as raw materials. I can re-purpose it, a little paint, some fabric and BAM it works perfectly for me. So I think you need to look beyond the item as crafted too.

this has come up a few times when i've been organizing, but it's pretty rare. i really try to match people based on crafting experience. i had one situation where i connected two unhappy swappers, and they had a personal swap, and that seemed to work well.

when i first started swapping, i had one organizer who ALWAYS matched me with her. and honestly, her quality was not that good. i stopped joining her swaps because i knew she'd match us up again and i didn't want to receive from her. it totally sucked, because some of her swap ideas were really cool, but she didn't make any kind of effort to  make stuff that was MY STYLE (quite different than hers), and things weren't very well made.

the thing i've never understood is why people aren't embarassed to send poorly made items? i would be horribly embarassed! i did a swap a while ago that i fought and fought with the item, finally finished it, and realized i'd made a mistake that was unfixable without starting over entirely. i cried, had a big temper tantrum, whined to my mom and sister who both told me they couldn't even tell (i'm a perfectionist), and then PM'd my partner and the organizer to ask what they thought i should do. i ended up sending it anyway, because my partner didn't think it was a big deal. but i felt soo bad!

i think it's one thing to just have beginner craft skills, because everyone starts somewhere. it's the stuff people send when they obviously put no effort into it. aren't you embarrased to have that shown in the gallery?
