McCalls Strapless Summer Dress

Hey Gals.  Last week I finished a McCall's pattern - 5040 EE It worked out pretty well.  I used the size 20.  I normally wear a 18 jean, so if that give you any indication.  This was my first pattern project.  Pretty happy with it and thought I would share.

Oh! You may have just made my day! I've been looking at patterns for the past week trying to figure out what dress to make and I just love that one - please do post the pattern number once you find it. Is it pretty much a tube or does it have two pieces?

i've been looking for a summer dress pattern too!  ESPECIALLY one that falls right under the boobs.  this is so pretty!  looking forward to the pattern number too.

It looks great. I've been looking for a pattern to make a dress for my sister in law's wedding. I'll have to add that one to the list.

I am going into the store tonight and I will make sure to write down the number.  I will post when I get home.

It was a fairly simple pattern.  The skirt is 3 pieces and the bodice was 7 pieces.  The bodice calls for lining made from the same material as the dress and boning.  I think you could probably go with out the boning depending on your figure.  I put it in because it was a display piece at the store.  It's a cute little dress.  I cut on the line for 20 and used 5/8 seam allowance.  The pattern would be easy to extend if necessary.

I love this dress!   But with flabby arms, it's not for me, awwww.   Perhaps a shawl, huh?
