I was looking at some tiki stuff the other day and decided I need some for my wall. Here's my first little guy.

hope you like him! he'll have some brothers soon, and they'll be going on the wall in my sewing area/bedroom.

Nope, not made of wood, but that's  what I was going for! He consists of Cardboard, Sharpie, and a brown Crayola colored pencil Smiley

First, cut apart a box along the folds that are already there and draw a tiki on it with pencil.

Then outline and fill in with Sharpie.

Then take the Brown colored pencil and draw random vertical lines all over the tiki, using the flat edge of the pencil point... I'm not sure if that's clear but your pencil will be almost horizontal so you get flat, wide lines.

Then take the point of the pencil and lightly scrbble back and forth over the lines you just made, so they have a little more texture.

Then take the flat edge  of the pencil and lightly color the whole tiki to give the whole thing texture. Then take the same edge and press hard along both sides of the sharpie lines. This makes it look carved.

Now cut out your tiki and hang it up!

I'm going to do the same thing but in grey for an easter island style head next. Will post pics when I'm done Smiley

Thanks!

Out of curiosity I just sprayed that one with clear coat, so we'll see if it makes it better or totally ruins it once it dries.

The clear coat made the cardboard a little darker and look a little more like wood, but the change doesn't show up in pictures. Looks good though!
