If any thrifty crafters in central Vermont are looking for a great resource, go to the ReStore in Montpelier.  They have all kinds of fun, sometimes weird, often unexpected but always useful bits and pieces at the best prices ever (like yarn, fabric, office supplies, wood shapes, tiles, containers...).  They're a non-profit and you also can donate stuff you've got that might be useful.  Here's a little more info if anyone's interested: http://www.cvswmd.com/resident_services/reuse-business.php?b=90

I LOVE the REstore! =) I've only been once (live in burlington for most of the time), but there will be many trips ahead there! =)

That sounds cool.  Our local ReStore is for Habitat for Humanity.  They carry house things that they've taken out of houses or new things they didn't use in Habitat houses. (ex: 4' piece of new countertop for $10).

Hooray -- there's another Vermonter here!  Nice to meetcha!

I'm near Montpelier, but have to go all the way to Burlington just to get to a Michael's.  Any other good craft-type sources up there?

Recycle North is probably one of my favorite places to go. Their building center is amazing... I found the coolest hardware ever there...EVER. And the household goods store always has some interesting items in it. The only downfall is you have to deodorize everything from there... One of my friends bought a desk from there and it made her entire room smell like boys lockerroom feet. Wink I'm looking around for good, almost or free fabric in the area. I'm going to be hitting up salvation army, greener pastures, and a couple other stores of that nature today. If any of you know where I can get scraps, I would appreciate any guidance.  Grin

I love the ReStore!   A few years ago I bought handfuls of rayon scraps, and later found the skirts they came from over at Champlain Clothing Co.  Still haven't made anything from the scraps, but I'm thinking of whipping up some quick mother's day pins or something.  Um, that's tomorrow, I should get busy.

I love the restore so much. Whenever I am in town I MUST stop in! I buy mostly fabric there but they have alot of paper stuff(I got holographic sticker paper once), craft books, trimmings(sewing), paintable wooden items(NIP), tiles, containers.....everything. They get their stuff from local companies and donated estates. The prices are amazing. And I would much rather support them than Wal-mart or any craft shops. The woman who basically runs it is super cool too!

Hey did anyone else here hit the free-sale this summer? Oh, I may have upset some people...Sorry. I just grabbed what I wanted! I did overheard someone("customer") explaining you should leave some for others....but if I use it who cares? Hey, if I take it will have a wonderful home, and EVERY scrap will be used! I am no Waste-Maker!

In summary I love the restore, everyone should go. And I am sorry my excitement took over and I was greedy at the free sale.

Hello Fellow Craftsters:
just cruising around aimlessly in craftster and found this reference to the restore...I'm in the Montpelier area and always interested in connecting with other artsy craftsy fools like myself.  I meant to say "folks" there, but I think I'll leave it at fools.   Grin  I see the last post here was a while back but it's also been read like 900 times, so if anyone is up for a local exchange of crafty ideas, let me know!

Hi Vermontsters,
Do you know if the Re-Store is still open?
I don't make it out to Montpelier much and last time I drove by it looked like it wasn't there anymore.  But maybe I was driving too fast.  Smiley
thanks!
