I'm re-reading Harry Potter, so I'm in this whole Harry Potter mood lately. I thought it would be interesting to see if anybody was working on any HP themed embroidery or cross stitching. Or pictures of finished works would be cool too. I've heard there is a book of HP patterns, but I couldn't find it on amazon.  Undecided

I have the four house crests that I was thinking of doing something with, I just haven't decided what to embroider them on yet.  I just found good quality pictures and ran them through http://www.darklilac.com/upload.jsp. I was also thinking about doing a cross-stitch of the Snape Potterpuff on a dicebag or somehting - he's just too cute!

You should get with Josee~Madalia on here.  She runs a HP craft yahoogroup and is in the process of doing the craft section on HP-lexicon (I  believe).  She does cross-stitch and probably could point you in the direction of more patterns and pictures too.  She's very sweet and wouldn't mind at all, I'm sure.

Inara: I would love to see the house crests when you're done! The potterpuffs idea is cute, I may do a Remus one.

SevsOnlyGirl: Thanks for the suggestion! I'll PM her now.

I would love to do a Harry Potter stitchalong, if there was a pattern I could use (or someone could point me to some patterns).
I've been trying to get one of the stitching programs for my computer so that I can make a pattern from images, but the one I'm looking at right now isn't responding to me. Sad

I'd love to do the Hogwarts crest, something like this one: http://galleries.mugglenet.com/misc/colorins/colorinshogwarts.jpg

Can anybody help me out in getting a pattern? I'd so love to do that!

terpkristin: you should be able to upload the picture onto the site inara linked to: http://www.darklilac.com/upload.jsp and it'll make a pattern for you. i would love to see how it comes along!

I'd love to see what others come up with, and will be having a look for patterns myself.

Girladdicted - I'm dying to get my hands on a copy of the cross stitch book, but apparantly it's quite rare.

I might join in! I have a HP-themed cross stitch I've been wanting to make for a friend for a while...it will likely be a christmas gift for her, but I might as well start now.

I did a Fawkes and Gryffindor crest for a HP swap ages ago.  You can see the finished pictures here:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=58547.msg551559#msg551559

I'm dying to do some more crests and take a little more time on them, maybe some patches for robes.

If anyone has any Harry Potter cross-stitch patterns that they'd be willing to share, I'd be really grateful. Or even if you could point me in the direction to purchase some.

I'm not keen on using a chart-maker from an online image.

check on ebay. Every once in a blue moon there will be a Harry Potter cross stitch up. I haven't had a chance to check recently but it's always worth a shot.

I think my mom has some black and white copies of HP cross stitch patterns somewhere. The book exists in German, I believe, and came out after GoF but before OoP, if anyone wants to do a search.

This stitchalong sounds great, though I have never done one before. How does it work and is there a time frame?
The link to the Harry Potter x stitch patterns are awesome!

I'm not really into cross stitch because I've hardly done it but I've done a lot of plastic canvas stitching and found a few free patterns

I am working on a cross stitch for a good friend of mine. She loves HP and so I'm cross stitching her favorite quote and the HP lightning bolt thing for Christmas. I couldn't find a pattern so I made my own. I just typed it up in word, copied it to paint and then saved it. From there I imported it into my photo shop and turned it into a "mosaic" its great cause it turns your picture into little squares and you can follow the colors and etc. Smiley i'm very proud of my finagling in order to make this pattern it worked really well Smiley If you want a picture you will have to tell me how to out one up because I am new and have nooooo idea how to add a picture to a post... :/
