i think that is a fantastic way to encourage young kids to eat healthily. i dont go to that extreme, but when im looking after my twin nieces, i make them "toast houses". basically just toast in the normal way but cut it so it has a chimney, paneled windows and a door. i also make them "fruit faces" on a plate.... apple slices for the ears, grapes for eyes... hell im not a kid and i still enjoy eating them, its refreshingly fun Smiley makes food less boring.

I just finished an anthropology class where we had to read articles on Bento boxes and discuss them in relation to Japanese gender relations and child rearing practices. I'd never actually seen any though, only read about them.

that is the best! food tastes so much better when it looks like someone you love... is it just me or does hello kitty (hello cheese-y) look weird with a mouth?

*heads to the fridge to plan franken-bento dinner!

I can barely muster the energy to pack a salad or sandwich let alone turn it into an homage to pop culture.  Well, I love to chat more but I am off to make my spaghetti and meatballs dinner into a Brady Bunch family portrait! Oh that Marcia and her hair!   Wink

Those are some crafty folks!
