I know it is a bit early for thinking of costumes, but I already know that I will be going to a party my friend is having. I am having trouble of thinking of something really fun, creative, and easy. A few years ago I was an alien and I wrapped myself in green saran wrap and made a cape out of paper plates. Any other ideas? Huh

Last year my boyfriend and I went as the devil and a fallen angel.

He wore red leotard, red tights, red cape and I found devil horns.

I wore a sheet toga which I ripped and singed (careful not to burn the whole sheet) in several places.

Finally, I purchased angel wings clipped the wings and dripped fake blood on the ends and a little on my back.

Make sense?

something i've always wanted to do [and may finally do this year] is to snag an old wheelchair, tightly wrap my legs in a pretty sheer greenish fabric, and be a mermaid - in a wheelchair.  in the dame darcy comic "meatcake" there's a character like this named effluvia, and besides, how WOULD a mermaid get around on land?  i was also inspired by the francesca lia block story, "mer".  obviously, the hardest part is obtaining a wheelchair, but once you got that, the rest is simple!  just grab some fabric, pretty yourself up, and BAM!  you're the hottest thing at the costume party.

here's a lame idea a friend and I came up with after a bottle of wine.... solid baby blue pajamas, white, fluffy slippers, and either a wig or cotton batting on your head.  Voila, Q-Tip!  It'd be pretty comfortable, and easy-to-do.

Too easy: Wear all black.  Pin different colored socks and underwear around your body.
What are you?  STATIC CLING!

Someone just wrote this on one of the listservs i subscribe to:

"I once wore a full slip (one that was modest) with a name tag "Freud." I was
of-course a Freudian Slip"

I love that idea (probably b/c I'm a psychotherapist at my "real job") !!!

How about kids' costumes??

I have a 9 year old girl, 4 year old boy, & a 4 month old girl.  The oldest is stuck on being a wizard, the boy changes his mind constantly, and the baby just doesn't have a choice.  Any cool ideas for them?

By the way--I love the Freudian slip idea!![/color]

I think there's also a thread going on costumes over at glitter. You can never have too many halloween threads though! One year, I was a deviled egg. Kinda silly but fun.

Every year my husband and I take part in a Halloween parade. It's so much fun! Last year we did Gilligan's Island with the bed of the truck covered with a cardboard boat and a trailer decorated like a tiki island.

This year we're doing The Nightmare Before Christmas. Sally and Jack's costumes should be pretty easy. I hope!
