I'm sooooo excited!!! I pretty sure I have that stuff in my garage and it'll make a fabulous night light for my little guys room. Of course, he'll put stickers on the outside to make it "his"

Thanks oodles

i'm wondering if you could make this very tacky and use beer bottles?  i don't drink, but my friends do and there's often beer bottles around the apartment and crafty little me thinking... i could USE these... as i trash them.  but a window lined with beer bottle lights sounds very tempting.

TIP:

Do not leave them on long... Because I did and like 5 bulbs busted because of the heat inside it and some of the strands of rubber melted together.

Couldn't you just poke holes in it to let the heat out?

though it looks a little un-appealing in day light hours (inset).

i think that's such a neat idea!!  i tried it too, only i put a dark blue material over that outide with stars cut out of it so that the light could shine through, it doesn't ook too bad in the daylight, and it's really cool in the dark!!! Grin

I did one with mardi gras beads for my bathroom and though I have a feeling a poster like Diamond would say it looks unappealing in daylight hours, to each her own, I like the way both my CD and jar lights look!

Since most people find just the lights unappealling in the day time and like it at night why not try the lights with the flowers on them like in this thread
http://www.craftster.org/yabbse/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=1749

that way you have the flowers and the lights and beautimus all at the same time

i apologise udandi if you found what i said offensive, i was actually only quoting what yopu said at the beginning!!! i am new to this forum, and i haven't figured out how to put other people's words in the yellow boxes like every one else does yet. but you really DID say that at the bottom of your original post. i just sorta cut copied and pasted it. how DO you do that btw?

What if you had a big jar and you painted the inside with a translucent acrylic paint, or some vellum paper in a pretty color or pattern? You could make a holder for the jar with some 14 guage steel wire, and glue some plastic jewels around the top!  also, if you are worried about the look of your lamp durring the day, what about using the christmas lights with the white cord instead of the green ones?
