please tell me these haven't already been posted somewhere.  it's so hard to keep up w/ all the cool stuff coming in Smiley

artzyfartzy needed some help making felt flower pins, so i created my first ever photo tutorial for her.  this is only part of it, though.

all you need is felt of 2-3 colors, needle, thread, fabric glue, a bead, & a pin backing.

cut out all your petals.  i recommend doing a layer of three petals.  my green ones ended up kinda being leaves instead of petals.  the tutorial here shows a layer of two *petals*.  just cut out 12, not 8 like i did.

now you will pick what color will go on top.  grab a petal & do a running stitch.  grab another & keep going til you have 4 petals all running stitched together.  pull your thread to tighten & there's your first petal layer.

you can now whip out your fabric glue and attach the rest of the petals--or you can hand sew them on, which is what i did.  your bead goes into the center of the first petal layer.  again, glue it or sew it.  lastly, add your jewelry pin to the back.  you could really use these for anything--sew onto your clothes, purse, backpack, hat, whatever you want.

enjoy![/color]

these are also really easy to make using hot glue instead of a needle and thread. i've made quite a few for christmas gifts.

(hi, i'm new and excited to be crafting with you all!)

I put together a felt flower making kit as a Christmas gift for my grandmother. I had this pretty box and filled each of the sections with felt petals, buttons, pin backings, embroidery floss, and a needle.

I think my grandmother will really enjoy making these. She used to do tons of arts and crafts but it's getting more difficult for her. Thanks so much for the idea, comfits!!

missroo--that is so sweet.  what a wonderful gift.  i love the idea of making kits.  i don't know why i've never considered it.  it makes so much sense!  a lot of people i know don't make stuff cuz they don't have the supplies.  pluse, this is a nice alternative to making 15 of the same craft.  thank you!
