1  Re: Firefly/Serenity round 8 gallery! in The Swap Gallery by jareth_tights on: October 22, 2008 05:41:24 AM
Due to unforeseen RL circumstances pictures today not yesterday! Y'all are gonna be completely jealous of my package from littlebluegirl once you see the goodies I got. You may be less jealous *cough*appreciative*cough* of my action shot obsession Tongue

First we have my favourite item, the 'Captain Tightpants' t-shirt. Cunningly when I received on monday I was wearing tight leatherette trousers (pants for the americans) so of course off came the Star Trek dress and on went this. Thankfully the woman I sit next to at work has watched firefly and so was very impressed also. Gotta spread the shiny.

P.S. I'm much happier than I look - I just don't smile in photos.

Next is the blue sun stencilled bag which must have been hell to cut out. Also in this photo and the rest are the lovely mittens, which I believe are knitted, inspired by 'two by two, hands of blue'

Next we have a couple of bought items that are no less awesome for it. A Hawaiian shirt style bag for Wash and a beaded notebook for Inara.

And last but not least we have an Inara-style compact mirror, A tiny jayne hat keyring/bag charm/random glove attachment and a fabulous felted strawberry which you're very right to feel proud of littlebluegirl - it's disturbingly accurate.

Sorry about the bad hat angle but it kept spinning...

Thanks so much littlebluegirl! I love it all!

2  Embroidered, painted and crayon-ed canvas - Also, Nino's Birthday Present in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by jareth_tights on: October 16, 2008 03:58:06 PM
When I asked my friend Nino what she wanted for her birthday all I could get out of her was one word 'friends' so I decided to do a portrait of me and her. Well my reference photo was not only a terrible picture of me but had been shrunk by the owner of the camera before I could stop it. So I scrapped that I idea, found another picture and just did Nino  Grin

I painted her in, then embroidered her, then coloured in the background with crayons (I *heart* crayons). I then decided that wasn't enough and added the flower.

Flower close up.

I apologise for the bad photos and the inclusion of me. I was too lazy to get up and try and use my isight properly.

So what do you think? Just thought I'd share.

3  Nick in a box! (Tarantino/CSI inspired) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by jareth_tights on: March 18, 2008 04:34:24 PM
Here's what I made for my sister's birthday inspired by the Tarantino CSI episode(s)

I did all the outlines in what I believe is backstitch (Not really an embroiderer), coloured in with watercolour pencils then covered the background with brown yarn of some description from Grandmother's stash.

The Poncho idea was all urbanchic1212 Smiley

Here's a link to it's thread in discussion and questions for another pic or two and related discussion.

4  How should I finish my Nick in a box? in More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions by jareth_tights on: March 17, 2008 05:02:26 PM
Well me and my sister both love the Tarantino episode of CSI where Nick ends up burried in a big perspex box so for her birthday I decided to make a piece based on that but now I don't know how to finish it. The main work is already done (mostly) but I don't know whether to leaves the edges of the canvas or do something else. Any help most appreciated.

Here's an over all of it:-

And here's a random close up so you can see what's going on a bit:-

Thanks!

5  Re: Another Buffy Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by jareth_tights on: March 01, 2008 03:19:11 AM
I received! Check it out, edel is a hardcore partner Tongue

Firstly no group pic because my head couldn't manage that with my macbook before noon on a saturday but instead a shot of the huge bag edel sent me to hold my stakes and holy water.

Here's a shot of the cute little bat on the back.

Next we get the awesome bleached (I think) t-shirt.

Then a terrible shot of the little vampire plushie to remind me who the bad guys are. Even if they do have more fun...

And because I couldn't help myself.

Edel sent me a mug cozy and a selection of different flavoured teas for sipping when I'm dreaming of Giles but sadly I had no mug in my room and was too lazy to go down three flights to get one so my handy Plymouth Gin bottle is standing in. Ignore the board hiding my mess of a room...

...Even if I couldn't. I'm such a buffoon.

And last but not least a Willow/Oz inspired bracelet.

Thank you for a great package edel and thanks to KraftyKT for organising. I know I had fun.

P.S. What's that in the back of some of those shots? Is it http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=223314.msg2412596#msg2412596 that no-one's commented on and I'd really appreciate so cc for? Why I think it is!

Sorry Roll Eyes

7  Following the trend... in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by jareth_tights on: February 18, 2008 01:55:41 PM
So I jumped on the bandwagon and made the infinity dress out of some burgundy type jersey I got in Amsterdam a couple of years ago and I love it Grin

Here are a few different tying options

Trying strapless

Close up of the tying detail because it looks kind of rubbish in the full shot

One with shoulders and accidental smirking

Warning the previous style does roll up Roll Eyes

Random brainless look on face not required.

P.S. This is my first clothing post so be nice Tongue

8  My first art post and first project post! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by jareth_tights on: January 27, 2008 03:22:11 PM
Well here it is, my crafty unveiling Tongue Not very exciting I know but I'm sure I'll get round to other things as well...

I randomly painted this a few months ago and I'm not sure what I think about it. I love how organically it all happened and am strangely attached to it but I honestly don't know what I'd think about it aesthetically if that wasn't the case.

What do other people think?

Ta muchly!

P.S. Sorry about the crappy photo quality. I don't know where the camera is so I had to use my iSight but at least I have that.
