Just stumbled across this site looking for an answer to the same question.. One suggestion that a craft supplier (Fred Aldous, I think) made to me was those foil blankets that are thrown around athletes to keep them warm after a race. You can buy them in camping supplies shops, and are very large, so could be good when making larger toys/blankets. Just a thought.
