31  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Slightly obsessed with vintage embroidered towels on: August 18, 2005 02:26:40 PM
Her are some pictures of what I've been doing every night this summer while watching CSI reruns.
old vintage patterns:

godd old Aunt Martha:

Darn, I thought they were all pressed before I went out to the backyard to take pics... ignore the wrinkled veggies!
32  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Working my way up to a *real* sweater on: August 18, 2005 02:15:29 PM
I'm always looking for some mindless crafting to do while watching my kids in the pool every day.You know- nothing that has a lot of supplies or requires much in the way of counting....... Hearing MARCO! POLO! screamed over and over can be slightly distracting.
I saw an easy pattern for making baby sweaters out of 5 rectangles and thought I could handle this!

I used Lions Brand wool ease thick&quick, size 13 needles and finished this in two afternoons. It ended up around a size 2T-3T.
The directions are really simple if anyone is interested.

I'm almost brave enough to try a real sweater in the fall!

33  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / girly pillow cases from Stitch it Kit on: July 30, 2005 12:56:48 PM
I had so much fun stitching these! Thanks for the fun patterns Jenny.

Now I have to go put them away for Christmas presents.
34  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first knitted garment! on: July 25, 2005 10:06:39 AM
This is the first thing I have made that isn't a hat, mittens, scarf or toys! I picked up Lionbrand Cotton Ease for $1.50, grabbed my circulars and knitted away. This was just a spur of the moment thing so I never figured out any math and hoped it would end up fitting one of my three daughters and it did!
Here's my littlest one modeling it. Pretend not to notice her goofy "there's a camera pointing at me" grin:

It's such a basic thing, I know, but I am so proud of myself.  Grin
Now, I won't be so scared to try a sweater!
35  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Jean Greenhowe's Teddy Bear Picnic on: July 18, 2005 01:17:20 PM
I'm almost done making this for my soon to be 6 year old daughter's birthday. It needs some more food and another bear friend or maybe rabbit friends.

The things on the plates are sandwiches, its hard to tell from the picture. That brown and pink thing in the back is a cake that may end up being a foot stool.  Undecided
It's knit from a Jean Greenhowe's "Toy Collection". Isn't it cute?
36  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Gotta love those pre-made totes! on: June 24, 2005 07:55:04 AM
I love to buy these pre-made totes when they are sale so that I can stitch up a quick gift. This is for a 10 year old crafty girl to use as a knitting bag:

The design is a copy of a pattern from Linea. I have the actual pattern but I couldn't get their darn transfer paper to work, so I had to freehand it with a gel pen and stitched, I found some matching beaded trim. Not too bad!
37  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Stitch-a-long inspired tote bag on: June 13, 2005 09:54:49 AM
I did this Mona Lisa for the "limit your colors" stitch-a-long and my 4th grade daughter wanted me to give it to her art teacher. This is what I came up with:

It was so hard to figure out what to do with Mona! Luckily I already had a package of canvas totes, wooden purse handles and beaded trim so it is all set to be given away tomorrow..... I hate being last minute. I hope she likes it.
38  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Stitchmarker Swap Round 2 - Gallery on: June 06, 2005 10:59:12 AM
Woohoo! Looks like I'm the first to receive so I'm starting the gallery.

Tabarhodes sent me fabulous stitchmarkers and a knitted pouch. I practically mugged the mailman for the package when I saw him, poor guy.

They are big, fun and fruity and the pouch is made with the softest, brightest  yarn I ever felt. They are perfect and I love everything so much, Thank you! I'm not sure if I love the fruit ones or the seahorse or the pizza one more.
