22  Re: My labor of love, my trial and (mostly) error... in Quilting: Completed Projects by ilovepaper on: July 11, 2006 05:27:53 PM
Completely beautiful! Where did you get those fabrics for $6? Do you have a picture of the entire quilt on a flat surface?

I got the squares a while back from my favorite online place for bargains:
I haven't seen them again since!
And I just happen to have a (not so great) pic of my quilt hanging on the fence, it definitely looks better draped:

23  My labor of love, my trial and (mostly) error... in Quilting: Completed Projects by ilovepaper on: July 11, 2006 07:45:12 AM

...my lovely first finished quilt! It is 60x60 made from 144 5" squares of completely unmatching gorgeous fabrics that I got for around $6.00. I learned rather quickly that points are hard, hence the funky little pattern in the middle. It's mostly hand quilted although the outer 10" are done with my free-motion attachment. (what a disaster!)
I love it

24  Dotty the Chihuahua in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by ilovepaper on: July 08, 2006 03:17:31 PM
I got this Japanese chihuahua pattern from a Flickr friend:

I'm pretty sure that she is blind; the beads I used for eyes give her a sightless look.  But she's cute anyway!

25  Vintage bee pattern book cover in Needlework: Completed Projects by ilovepaper on: June 10, 2006 02:02:42 PM
Every year I make scrapbooks (from the class) for my kid's teachers and this year one of the teachers colllects bee things (Miss B...get it?). I was so happy to be able to use my favorite transfer. I stitched on wool felt, found a bee fabric in my stash and cute ribbon and here's the cover:

close up of the bee and my 5th graders writing that I stitched over:

I love stitching on wool felt, something about the thickness and how the stitches sink into it a bit, love it!

26  Re: Not Your Grammy's Pincushion Swap ROUND 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by ilovepaper on: June 09, 2006 05:43:38 AM
Oh Shuffar- I'm sure that's not the case!

Look at what the lovely cybilverbeana made for me:

The big one is a gorgeous-furry-beaded-handstitched cake! It's a crummy day out and I can't get a nice shot of it... trust me it's even nicer than the picture.
The smaller one is a tiny metal tray with a red brocade cushion nestled in it. It's trimmed with red chenille rick-rack that I sent in her package  Wink and it has a magnet for resting a needle on....I can definitely use this!
Aren't they great?!
Thanks a bunch Cybilverbeana!

More from Yirq's cherry fabric. I just bought Amy Butler's apron pattern and it has these great potholders. My kitchen has a green check/dots and cherry thing going on.

My bias tape is very rough...I'll need to follow the directions exactly next time  Undecided

This falls under spring/summer, yes?

Just a little mindless project while watching baseball, it's a t-shirt for my littlest daughter.
*pattern is an Aunt Martha

eta- the colors are way off on this one....7 days of rain=bad lighting

30  my cute little owl in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by ilovepaper on: May 07, 2006 04:08:12 PM

This is my first try at amigurumi (well, it looks like amigurumi I think). My daughter named him Howell. It was very easy to make. I found the free pattern here:
