1  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: DIY acne cream (works like clearsil) on: June 23, 2008 08:56:48 AM
If you are using fabric softener...stop.  It caused really bad breakouts for me.  Switch to Charlies soap in the wash with vinegar in a downy ball.  No softener in the dryer, after the vinegar, I find it's not needed.  If you must, find something natural.

Wash face with raw honey.

Tone with 25% HEINZ Apple Cider Vinegar/75% Distilled water.  You can add several drops of tea tree oil to this (buy from reputable source), it will lessen the smell, and clear up acne.

Moisturize with straight-up jojoba oil.  Get a good one from a HFS.

To fade red marks on oily skin:  Nightly mask of 1T egg white, beaten by hand just til frothy, with a touch of lemon juice.

For red marks on dry skin:  Lemon juice in honey.

Do the masks at night, as lemon will make you susceptible to sunburn.

At night, after cleansing, you can also us a paste of baking soda and water as a scrub-good for blackheads.  Can be drying.

**the store bought creams make you enter a vicious cycle of oily skin/dry skin.  you're forcing your skin to work overtime, and it's not happy.

I like it a lot!!  I don't think the beads would be overkill, as long as you didn't use a ton of them and you got the right beads.

Great job!

You did a great job, it's a beautiful cake!  Kudos to the fondant crafter as well!

About preserving them,  I would go to www.ladycakes.com and ask there.  It's a wonderful forum of cake decorators, lots of experts there who will help you with the right method of preserving them.  You have to pay to see the forums with pictures, but there are open discussion forums you can get to for nothing.  They also have a free trial membership, so you can do that.
