281  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: Need Help With Room!! on: July 30, 2007 03:03:52 PM
Okay, hope this can be helpful to you.
Move the TV out of the corner.  Slide the computer desk over to left.  Move the student desk next to the computer desk.  Butt the student desk all the way over to the right wall.  Butt the computer desk to the student desk.  Now, if you have enough space, push the TV back into the corner.  If no space, consider placing your TV on one of those ceiling/wall mounted TV holder things.
As for the wooden dresser, paint it!  (I don't see an antique desk, did you mean the dresser?)  Unless it is in PERFECT condition and of a historically significant era, you will not devalue it by painting.  I would paint it white so that you can use it in any decor, should you change your color scheme.  Too scared to paint?  Change the hardware to colors in your decor.
You have lots of posters and such on the walls and could better utilize the wall space with wall storage.  Check out IKEA's website for cool shelf and wall storage ideas.
Good luck!

282  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to make a tiny horrible flat look good? on: July 30, 2007 02:44:39 PM
I'm considering renting this place cos it's damn cheap and literally a 30 second walk from my college, but dear lord it's cramped &it's ugly
Go for it!  Lay an inexpensive rug over the red carpet, in a neutral color, like khaki/coir or sisal type.  Toss in a pillow or two with the red color so that it appears that the red carpet is intentional.
Kitchen area:  Go to www.ikea.com and look at the Kvartal curtain panel system.  Attach hardware to ceiling above kitchen cabinet to block off area.  The panels slide.  You can attach canvas, artpaper, fabric to Kvartal hardware.

Holy Shiite Muslim - how cool is that?
LOVE the tea lights, I have made decoupaged plates but hadn't even thought of candles.
Thanks!

Love your sewing fearlessness!  So neat that you are doing such creative things at such young age!  Your personal style shines and I must say that I like the feminine but edgy look!
288  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Pirates dress on: July 17, 2007 08:15:47 AM
I LOVE the dress!  And it looks like your daughter loves it as well.    And I love YOUR moxie!
Just tell the old biddies that the skull & crossbones is an traditional symbol of protection.
Black patent leather sandals would be precious.  Red?  Too much.

289  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Re: HELP! I need a vote I cant decide on a button :0) on: July 10, 2007 02:07:59 PM
I vote green.  Hold your hand over the pink, now do the same over the green.  There is enough pink and the green is a nice contrast.
290  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: popple sheets=dress? on: July 10, 2007 02:01:55 PM
I am so impressed!  As a beginning seamstress myself, I admire your spirit of adventure.  Your dress is too cute!
