1  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. / Craft a Pattern for Charity on: March 09, 2008 12:02:59 AM
Diverging from the regular craft challenge, how about we have a challenge where we craft a prototype of something we write a free-use pattern for? All of the patterns could be added to the pattern/tutorial pages in their respective boards, and the winner would get a prize and/or a donation to the charity of their choice.

For example, an entrant would-
*design an afghan pattern
*knit or crochet a prototype
*post the pattern for use in charity crafting

*your pattern might also include design features inspired by your favorite charity cause/organization, e.g. pink ribbons for breast cancer or the puzzle pieces logo for autism.

What do y'all think? Smiley
2  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. / Craft the Elements - Earth, Wind, Fire on: December 15, 2007 08:23:06 AM
The elements are used as a theme in lots of artwork, so why not carry it over to crafting?

Elements as materials/processes- make something out of clay for Earth, windchimes for Wind, fire polish some beads for Fire

Elements as representations - make three different collages or crafts which represent personalities or other things you associate with each element- a yoga mat Earth, a keyhole scarf for wind, a tank top or sexy red dress for fire

Elements as color schemes- simply make something with Earth colors, something with pastel colors (Wind), and something with reds, oranges and yellows for Fire.

Other elements could be used, too, like the real ones on the periodic table, or more proverbial elements like the ones above, too. This challenge could be interpreted in so many different ways, so that it allows for a lot of creativity.

You could really take off with this theme by finding creative ways to make the tools work better and make crafting areas more efficient Wink
