1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Little Shop of Horrors on: September 26, 2014 09:24:25 AM
Last year I went as Audrey AND Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors. Most people got it but a few thought it was a Super Mario Bros costume...

The costume was basically two big foam and paper mache pieces held on by thrift store belts with a make shift skirt velcroed onto the bottom of a black skirt.

I made the leaves out of foam craft sheets and stenciled plant veins all over the place.
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Roctopus - Hand Painted Guitar Strap on: January 01, 2013 08:43:29 AM
After racking my brain for months trying to come up with a Christmas gift for my picky boyfriend, that was not only dirt cheap, but awesome and meaningful as well, I had the idea to make him an octopus(we've got a mutual soft spot for the critter) guitar strap. It turned out pretty well and he loves it!

I bought an inexpensive leather strap online and used acrylic paint with Liquitex gloss medium & varnish to seal it. The strap had some texture to begin with but I sanded it to give it a little more. I used double sided tape to stick in on to a long piece of cardboard to make working on it (and storing it) easier.

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / I made this for my cat (added a flower tute) on: May 12, 2010 06:40:23 AM
I made this for my cat Steve. Sometimes I use it too.

I think it's working.

Here's a little flower tute. I'm SUPER bored today.

4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Doodle Doodle Do on: November 06, 2009 07:08:14 PM
I have been compulsively doodling for the last few weeks. I love it!
I made this one for a friend. It's 9" x 9", made with pens and markers.

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Nature inspired shrinky earrings on: October 10, 2009 12:01:30 PM
I haven't posted any jewelry here in FOREVER and I'm really bored today so....

These are three pairs of earrings I made with shrink plastic. I use Prismacolor pencils on translucent shrink plastic that I sand with fine sandpaper so the pencil will go on nice and thick. Once it has "shrunk" I use a sharpie to color the sides and back black. Then I spray on several thin coats of Rustoleum crystal clear enamel to protect the whole piece from scratching.
It can be a little tedious but I think it's worth it in the end!

So today I made this.

7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Doodles turned jewelry on: September 19, 2008 06:14:47 PM
It's been awhile since I've posted anything so I thought I'd share some of my latest shrink plastic jewelry.

The ring is my favorite!
It's all drawn by hand and I use translucent shrink plastic(it's softer therefore can hold more color), prismacolor pencils and Rust-Oleum crystal clear enamel to seal and protect.
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Doily, Douse & Dew shrinky necklaces on: May 26, 2008 09:54:12 AM
It's a yucky rainy day today but I don't mind because it's the perfect excuse for staying inside and making jewelry. Oh and spending some quality time with the internet.
Here are some necklaces I won't be working on today.

Douse

All made from shrink plastic & prismacolor pencils
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Shrinky Math on: May 12, 2008 06:26:11 PM
Shrink plastic + Prismacolor pencils + a Sharpie + sandpaper + Rust Oleum enamel + a lot of free time
=

The last picture is of post earrings. Not sure if that's obvious.

10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Shrinky Rings - my new favorite (more pictures added!) on: February 28, 2008 05:50:46 PM
Here's just a few shrinky rings I've made. I love these things! They are so much fun to make!
I use Prismacolor pencils and seal them with Rustoleum Crystal Clear Enamel. Then I use Welder adhesive and a 2 part epoxy to mount them on adjustable bases. Wahla! Rings!

Edit- I bought the ring part on ebay. You can also find tons on Etsy. Just search "ring blanks" on either site for lots of options!
