1  Some New Earrings, brooch & headband in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by cross_my_hooks on: October 31, 2010 08:31:02 AM
I was browsing through the craft section of walmart looking for something to do to procrastinate all the things I should be doing & I found a little kit that makes buttons you sew on to clothes.  I thought, well I've never done that before let's see what I make.

So i made the buttons, then while looking at them I thought they would look great as earrings! I had four small buttons & two really large ones.  The small buttons were made into two sets of earrings & the large buttons were made into a headband & a brooch.  I also had an old zipper i wanted to experiment with.  This zipper became earrings as well.

the headband

the button earrings

yellow rose zipper earrings

aren't they nifty?  I love to collect fabric & this is a great use for it!

2  New Cake Stands in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by cross_my_hooks on: July 26, 2010 08:48:24 AM
I made these two cake stands from plates & candlesticks from the thrift store.

this one is for my mothers formal dining room.  they can be separated as well.  how nifty is that!

this one is for me.  I have it shown separated because I will probably use it as a jewelry tray.

I used some E6000 to attach the plates and candlesticks.  Make sure you find the center so they are balanced when they dry.

thanks for looking!

I made five, thats right count 'em, five beaded rings! I am in love with them. I love pearls & these were a perfect use for my bead collection!

I got the ring bases on sale at Micheal's and the beads are glass pearls.

So blingalicious Smiley

4  Pom Pom Dandelions in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by cross_my_hooks on: July 22, 2010 09:34:21 PM
I followed this tutorial:http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/sf/diy-yarn-and-twig-dandelions-109850 to make dandelions from twigs & yarn.  I almost gave up on pom poms because I could never get them to be quite right.  they were always a bit square and never round enough.  These I like.

The purple one is really curly because I unraveled a crochet project and immediately used the yarn & the other is yarn I've had for ages!

I used hot glue to attach the stem then stuck em in a vase!  They add so much cuteness to the top of my dresser!

5  Watercolor & ink thank you cards in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by cross_my_hooks on: July 22, 2010 09:30:34 PM
A few weeks ago I was obsessed with watercolors.  (I still am, but have calmed down a bit) I was painting anything that would stand still.  I made these cute thank you cards in a speech bubble:

Tell me what you think.  I adore them!

I bought a bag of mix-matched jewelry pieces a long, long while ago & have just now put some to good use:

Hammered Metal Pendant with pearls

Sculpted Pendant

The pearls are glass pearls & the chain is gold colored.  I have been on a jewelry kick lately, there is so much more I haven't photographed yet!

7  Pineapple Ring Painting in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by cross_my_hooks on: February 21, 2009 02:16:17 PM
My room mate recently made a set of coasters and a coaster set holder out of polymer clay with litte circular decorations that looked like pineapple rings.  When I told her that she didn't believe me, but I couldn't get that inspiration out of my head.  So on this lazy Saturday afternoon when I should be doing other things I painted this great picture:

I was so excited when I finished it.  I dunno if I am going to put it in my room or in our family room down stairs.  (I just looked around my room and have zero wallspace..so down stairs it goes)

let me know what you think Smiley

8  Charcoal Drawing - ADULT CONTENT (nude model) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by cross_my_hooks on: February 16, 2009 02:45:14 PM
I am a second semester art student...though this is my third year in college (I couldn't decide on a major Sad so now I am going to be here for a fifth year...I know..sad huh?) ....and I am in my first Life Drawing class.  I can not draw worth anything but i was super excited today when I was able to crank these bad boys (girls i mean) out:

my fave part: the knees....which i put first so nudity won't show up on the front page Smiley

This first one is not quite as finished as the second one below.  on this one i just focused on the knees..

I was so proud of myself and so was my instructor.  I was like I have no idea who is drawing with my hand, but I love it!!

ps. her bottom really isn't that long...i took them at an angle so she came out a little wonky.  but that one was the best to show shading Smiley Smiley Smiley
