These really are works of art. They're incredible. I love all the details and thought that went into them and the aesthetic is great. (Where did the little skull-ish beady thingies come from? Want!)

These are amazing. I don't have those kind of skillz, yo.  Wink I think my faves are the high priestess and her cleavage, and the dots.

TheMistressT, thank you! That's nice feedback for my very first.

This is my first ever ATC, commemorating a wonderful wedding... with a wink.

I like your pocket idea... clever solution.

Love it. I love the idea of the Dotees but I have to admit some of them are a little too precious for me. This one's creepy cuteness is just right.

What a great dress! The fabric makes it. But I'm definitely going to check out the pattern. I look for the same things in a pattern you do (fast, easy, goes up to big sizes, and retro charm!). I think your sewing skills are way ahead of mine though. I'm a total beginner.

L Word! Yes, please! Do the cast of L Word!
9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Map-covered Postcard Box on: May 29, 2008 08:22:03 AM
This is my first project posted to Craftster so please be gentle with me!

I recently started trading postcards on Postcrossing and I decided to make a box to hold the cards I received. This is a cigar box which I covered with vintage maps (from an old atlas, circa 1910 I think?). I added a few beads for dimension (including a "you are here" star in the middle of the ocean!). Inside the box, I left part of it uncovered intentionally; I just liked the look of the wood. There are some mother-of-pearl-type beads on the inside cover.

After this was completed, I put it aside and at one point left some papers on top of it... on a really hot day, the Modpodge softened and the papers stuck to the top! You can see a couple of places where it left marks on top. I decided that it was okay; it just makes it kind of look older, which I wanted for the look anyway. It happened on the inside edges as well, where the paper on the bottom stuck to the top. I think next time I would not line the inner edges, but since I did and they got messed up, I debated about lining them again but decided not to so that the box still closes cleanly.

It's not perfect but I like how it came out overall. I did realize though that it's not going to hold very many postcards, but that's good -- gives me an excuse to do another one!

Very cool -- I love the closed end; makes it perfect for tossing in a purse and keeping it clean and neat. And lucky you to get a bind-it-all! I am SO stealing borrowing your idea...
