thanks everybody

and tatobuggy- adorable name!!!

craftjukie- great suggestion! my fiance is very crafty, he thought we should put glass on top as well. but if you put glass directly on the collage it creates air bubbles, so we'd have to place the glass on a groove in the molding. I like that idea because it would create this really cool shadow-box effect, but at the same time i hate dusting, and i just know it would get dusty... but oh well. I will probably end up just buying a few pieces of plexiglass anyway. it will probably protect my collage from cup rings better than anything!!

^look in the upper left corner of the picture and you'll see what these tables looked like originally- they were all scratched up and this really yellow oak color- very plain and ugly. I painted them black and collaged the top with clippings from a collection of award-winning graphic design photos. it's really neat, a great conversation piece.

^this one is a close-up of all of the beautiful art i used. I really like the aura photograph of the leaf in blue...

^and this last one is the after shot of the end table. I painted them both a nice flat black with acrylic. I still haven't found a polyurethane-free way of sealing the collage, though. the mod podge is still sticky, and every time i set so much as a candle on the table tops it still sticks just like glue. if anyone has any tips on sealing the mod-podge, that would be great. maybe some clear acrylic would work, but every bottle of sealer or clear acrylic i can find has a little disclaimer about how an ingredient is labeled a carcinogen and i just don't like to use such harsh chemicals... i live in an apartment so as you can see this is an indoor project...

anyway much love, and i hope you like!
