11  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Covered Button Magnets on: December 03, 2007 06:50:23 PM
I hope that I've posted these to the appropriate board.

I had really wanted some better magnets on the fridge that actually hold so I  covered some buttons and snapped the hook off of the back and then glued some magnets to them...  So incredibly easy.

12  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Vintage Deer in a Field on: December 03, 2007 06:40:24 PM
I've had this lying around half done for a month now and I finally had some time to finish it.  I have a serious thing for deer.  I think I'll frame this one.

13  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / I made a dress that looks good enough to wear out of the house!!! on: November 02, 2007 08:16:12 PM
Finally I made a dress that I can wear somewhere!  I used McCall pattern M5512 and had planned on doing the sleeveless version but it's getting chilly here finally so I decided I would try some sleeves.   I think that it turned out pretty well although the fit seems a little big and boxy.  I think I might take it in up the back.  I usually don't use patterns because they never fit me correctly.  I made this a size smaller than I should have according to my measurements.  Anyhow, this was my first attempt at sleeves and I think they look alright.  Let me know what you think!

14  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Cherry Cord Jumper on: November 02, 2007 08:10:09 PM
I hope it's okay that I post this since I didn't make it but I'm so excited because my mom did.  I learned to sew from her and since I've started sewing again so has she.  And she is soooo much better at it than I am (amongst many other things Cheesy).  I just thought this jumper she made for my little one was so cute that it deserved its spot on here.

Notice the bubble gum wrapper on the floor ... I took these pics the day after Halloween
15  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Good Recipe for Roasted Pumpkin Seeds? on: October 29, 2007 04:57:32 PM
Hi there!

Just wondering if anyone has any good tips, recipes or ideas on roasting pumpkin seeds.  I've always just soaked them and added salt and baked in the oven.  I would like to use some different spices but I'm not sure where to start.  Any ideas would be welcome!
16  COOKING / Dessert / Who doesn't love Coconut Macaroons? on: October 19, 2007 08:48:00 PM
I made these little beauties tonight for a beach trip tomorrow.  This is the best recipe EVER for coconut macaroons.  Seriously, these are so super easy and everyone always loves them.  It's Ina Garten's recipe -

Coconut Macaroons:
14 oz. sweetened shredded coconut
14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 extra large egg whites, at room temp
1/4 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 325.  In a medium bowl, mix coconut, condensed milk and vanilla.  In a smaller bowl, beat egg whites and salt until medium firm peaks form.  Fold the egg whites into the coconut mixture.  Use an ice cream scoop to scoop mixture on to cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.  Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.  Cool and serve.  Makes about 16 macaroons.
17  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Two new skirts!!! on: October 14, 2007 09:08:54 PM
I made these a little while ago and finally got my camera back.  I'm so excited that I finally have learned to make these without patterns. I think the first one is my favorite.

I found a few of these vintage tea towels in one of my local antique shops, just begging to be embroidered.

19  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Silk Dupioni Ring Pillow - My fav! on: September 21, 2007 09:24:05 AM

20  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Another ChiChi Pillowcase ... This is embroidery is becoming a SERIOUS addiction on: September 16, 2007 06:58:18 PM
So I made a pillow for my sister the other day and my four year old was so upset that she couldn't sleep on it!  I promised her that I would make her one she could sleep on.  I have become incredibly addicted to embroidering lately.  So here it is ...
