1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Copyright Advice from my craftster friends please! on: May 13, 2008 03:57:24 PM
I sew most of all of the clothes that I wear out when I go to my rockabilly shows.  A ton of my friends and people in that scene are wanting me to make clothes for them.  Everything that I make is from vintage patterns and I would like to start selling what I make.  I just don't want to get into trouble with any pattern companies.  I never try to front the idea as mine and I am very clear about using a certain pattern but I would love some advice before I give it a go.  Thanks!
2  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Gingham Dress from the "I'll get to that later" pile (McCall's 5313) on: February 24, 2008 06:58:37 PM
I think that I started this dress back in August.  It's been shoved in the back of the closet unfinished until now.  I really thought that this dress was a lost cause because the fit was so poor in the bust but I just added four darts to it and it's the perfect fit!  I used McCall's 5313 and it was fairly easy - I always make a size smaller than I usually do in other patterns because they seem to always turn out to big.  I think that I really like it now.  I thought it made me look pregnant at first but I think I'm over it now.  I've got jeans on in the pic because NOBODY should see my legs in the middle of winter, it might cause blindness!!!

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / New Dress, Time for a Diet! on: February 24, 2008 09:22:40 AM
I started sewing again last summer and I have had this pattern and fabric lying around since then.  It was the first dress I wanted to make but has been pushed aside as I kept finding other projects to do.  I like the dress but I'm not as pleased with the fit as I thought I would be.  I made it a little too small so maybe once I shed a few pounds it will look a little better.  As for the pattern I used Butterick 4790 which was SUPER easy.

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Anyone know any good info sites to help me use my dress form? on: February 22, 2008 10:38:05 AM
Today was my lucky day.  I snagged up a fabulous vintage adjustable Acme dress form from Craigslist!  I've never used one before and was wondering if any of you wonderful craftsters out there had any good links or books that might help me get it set it correctly.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / New Twirly Skirts! on: January 28, 2008 09:22:49 AM
I finished these two cute twirly skirts yesterday for my little one.  I just love making these because they are the easiest thing I've ever made and my daughter actually likes to wear them.  One is for Valentine's Day with little red and pink weiner dogs with hearts and the other is a cute red retro print I found with little girls at a birthday party all over it.   I can't decide if I should put a trim on the bottom of the red one.  Let me know what you guys think about the trim.

6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Christmas Twirly Skirt on: December 20, 2007 06:54:45 PM
One of our fellow craftsters, missmonkeymae was kind enough to give the tutorial for this skirt - Hers is an absolutely jack o lantern one - you should check it out.  This is the easiest thing I think that I've ever made.  I had to make one after seeing it so here it is ...

7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Everyone Needs A Birds Nest! on: December 19, 2007 05:19:00 PM
I have seen several posts awhile back with these adorable bird's nests so I had to make one.  I will be giving this one as a gift - now I need to make another one for me!

8  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Emmie's Mod Dress on: December 12, 2007 07:27:56 AM
Last night I was bit bored and needed to do something, so I made this little mod dress.  I used Butterick 4910 which is a nightgown pattern but I just knew that my daughter would like it a dress because it's so comfy.  I need to shorten the sleeves a bit more but she was asleep when I made it so I will do that later.

I'm trying to get her to stay in her own bed at night so we have told her that if she stays in bed the fairy will come and leave her a treat.  She woke up this morning and found it hanging on her door and she said, "Do the fairies make dresses Mommy?"  Just too cute, I suppose they do.

9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Kitschy Christmas Nightgown on: December 11, 2007 02:41:50 PM
I decided that I wanted my daughter to have a Christmas nightgown this year.  My mom always made them for us when I was young so I finally got around to making one for Emmie this year.  I still need to add a little ribbon bow to the top neckline but I'm so proud of how it turned out.   Size wise it's a little big but I think I will just take the elastic in a little more at the neckline.

10  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Who dosen't love PJ Pants? on: December 04, 2007 07:49:54 PM
This girl does!!!  I have sewed mainly skirts and dresses.  Never any type of pants so I thought I would try out some jammy pants ... I was shocked at how easy they were - less than an hour and I always take a lot of time sewing so I enjoy it -  I wish the fit was a little better but they're still totally wearable.  My camera ham model loves any opportunity to pose ...
