11  Vintage Deer in a Field in Needlework: Completed Projects by little*devil on: December 03, 2007 06:40:24 PM
I've had this lying around half done for a month now and I finally had some time to finish it.  I have a serious thing for deer.  I think I'll frame this one.

And a close up

12  Re: Buy Nothing Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by little*devil on: November 16, 2007 02:35:05 PM
Here are pictures from my fabulous package from iheartcapnhook ...
Everything together (can you believe how she spoiled me?!)

She sent so many wonderful things, a fabulous gnome with his own mushroom, a gorgeous turkey, a cute scarecrow, a quilted turkey square, a pomander, two super cute cupcake pincushion, a wonderful scarf for my daughter - here she is modeling it (such a camera ham)

I absolutely love everything!!!!   She also sent me a pattern for crocheted mary jane slippers and some gorgeous yarn - this is what I will be attempting on Buy Nothing Day!  I had so much fun craftin for this swap.  Thank you so much!!!

13  I made a dress that looks good enough to wear out of the house!!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by little*devil on: November 02, 2007 08:16:12 PM
Finally I made a dress that I can wear somewhere!  I used McCall pattern M5512 and had planned on doing the sleeveless version but it's getting chilly here finally so I decided I would try some sleeves.   I think that it turned out pretty well although the fit seems a little big and boxy.  I think I might take it in up the back.  I usually don't use patterns because they never fit me correctly.  I made this a size smaller than I should have according to my measurements.  Anyhow, this was my first attempt at sleeves and I think they look alright.  Let me know what you think!

14  Cherry Cord Jumper in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by little*devil on: November 02, 2007 08:10:09 PM
I hope it's okay that I post this since I didn't make it but I'm so excited because my mom did.  I learned to sew from her and since I've started sewing again so has she.  And she is soooo much better at it than I am (amongst many other things Cheesy).  I just thought this jumper she made for my little one was so cute that it deserved its spot on here.

Notice the bubble gum wrapper on the floor ... I took these pics the day after Halloween

15  Re: Chocolate pumpkin "Country Living cake" in Dessert by little*devil on: October 28, 2007 08:45:13 PM
I made one too!  I used a pumpkin cream cheese frosting instead of whatever the magazine suggested ( it takes colour well and tastes yummy.  It's also way easier to work with than standard american frosting.  )  I also use chocolate ganache instead of the rum corn syrup icing.  I have always had good luck making ganache do what I want, so I stick with it.  I love that the ganache covers a multitude of frosting errors.  Besides I can use the leftovers for truffles!

The frosting recipe and some other details are on my  blog at http://carmen-whome.blogspot.com/2007/10/pumpkin-thunder-cake.html but I mostly stuck with the recipe as written.  It was a fun and easy cake and I must say soooooo delicious!!!!!!!!!

Ooooo... Great idea!  I thought the cake needed a little more of a pumpkin or spice flavor.. I bet the pumpkin cream cheese is perfect on there.

16  Re: Rockabilly Swap Round 3! in The Swap Gallery by little*devil on: October 22, 2007 08:57:52 AM
I was having the worst day ever and then the mail came ...  Yay!  Everything is so awesome!  Cigarettesandvalentines rocks!  Here is everything together ...

And some close ups ...

inside of the nautical purse ...

I got two amazing bags.  The nautical is already in use!  And I desperately needed a tote for all of my embroidery things so Buddy Holly will now be the keeper of those goodies!

Then there is a super cute gingham headband which I LOVE!  I have a serious scarf and headband fetish!

And cigarettesandvalentines picked up the cutest silver nautical charm necklace!  I love it all ... thank you!!!

17  Who doesn't love Coconut Macaroons? in Dessert by little*devil on: October 19, 2007 08:48:00 PM
I made these little beauties tonight for a beach trip tomorrow.  This is the best recipe EVER for coconut macaroons.  Seriously, these are so super easy and everyone always loves them.  It's Ina Garten's recipe -

Coconut Macaroons:
14 oz. sweetened shredded coconut
14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 extra large egg whites, at room temp
1/4 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 325.  In a medium bowl, mix coconut, condensed milk and vanilla.  In a smaller bowl, beat egg whites and salt until medium firm peaks form.  Fold the egg whites into the coconut mixture.  Use an ice cream scoop to scoop mixture on to cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.  Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.  Cool and serve.  Makes about 16 macaroons.

19  Two new skirts!!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by little*devil on: October 14, 2007 09:08:54 PM
I made these a little while ago and finally got my camera back.  I'm so excited that I finally have learned to make these without patterns. I think the first one is my favorite.

I found a few of these vintage tea towels in one of my local antique shops, just begging to be embroidered.
