1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / ratty old dress form turned christmas tree/art on: December 13, 2008 01:55:57 PM
I don't post on here a lot, I need to change that. I'm STILL not up to 10 posts yet! Alas, it's still links for me  Sad

So a few years ago, I got this old dress form from my grandma. Sadly, upon closer inspection, it was revealed to be broken and shedding dry-rotted foam. Yuck. So I proceeded to set it in my hallway where it remained as an eyesore and hat rack for a couple of years. Today I was rummaging through some old stuff and found my green Christmas lights and wondered what on Earth I could do with them. Then I got this idea...

Broken, so sad. I'm stripping off the old, nasty fabric.

Halfway there! All duct taped together.

Final product!

You can't really tell from the picture, but the lights are very bright. And contrast with the orange dress in a fabulously tacky way.  Smiley

My great-aunt had a desk/chair like that. And if I'm not mistaken, it was upholstered in in fabric pretty similar to that flowered mess.

I also have a Transformers shirt from the little boys' section in Wal Mart. Wow. But I love the dress, so colorful.

Oooh, that's a good idea. I'll ask her today.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Jim Morrison jacket ideas on: November 03, 2007 04:34:25 PM
My cousin is a huge fan of The Doors/ Jim Morrison, as am I. So I thought for Christmas, I would make her a jacket! I've already stencilled a picture of Jim onto the front of the jacket and it looks great. But it's still kinda boring and I have yet to think of other embellishment ideas.

Sorry I'm a slacker and haven't posted enough to have pictures Sad

Most of the jacket. It's a pretty straightforward, boring, white hoody with a zipper.

Jim's beautiful face Smiley

Any ideas are welcome, so if you have them, pleeeaaaassee suggest them! Thanks.

Thanks. I've actually been sewing off and on for a few years, but this is the first thing I've ever finished. Sorry that the pictures are kinda lame.
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Red jumper, my first real project : ) on: August 07, 2007 09:17:42 PM
Soo like a month ago I bought this remnant of red synthetic type stuff. And was like Hey! I can make a dress! So I did. And I finished it in two days. But I'm a slacker and didn't reinforce the straps until tonight. Oh well.

Regular old action shot...

Ha..chest shot. Just ignore that part.

And of course, the mirror shot. I had to do it!

And if anyone is wondering, the black and white shirt isn't part of it. Just a random shirt I have that I thought looked pretty with it Smiley

Oh and if there's any trouble with the links, let me know.
