2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Call for Patterns. on: November 29, 2007 08:04:21 PM
Hi Folks,

My knitting group is starting a new online knitting publication called MetaPostModernKnitting.com. We just posted our info and our call for patterns. We are a small start-up, and our site isn't even fully functional yet, so the info is temporarily being hosted here: http://www.onesheephill.com/metapostmodernknitting.html.

Please feel free to send this message and the link to any other knitter or knitting community that you think would be interested (it has already been posted to Ravelry and the LiveJournal Knitting Community.

Thanks everyone. We are soooo excited to see what happens with this idea!
3  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Silk that doesn't take dye? on: November 08, 2007 05:57:46 PM
I have some fiber that I got awhile back from a supplier who I don't purchase from anymore and who I don't really trust. It's supposed to be 70%wool/30% silk, but when I dye it, the "silk" isn't taking any dye at all. I've done quite a lot of dyeing so I know my method is fine (don't mean that to sound snotty, I just wanted to clarify that I know what I'm doing). Has anyone had silk that simply won't take acid dyes? I'm wondering if it's because it's been heavily bleached... but it seeems like heavy bleaching should prepare it for dye and not the other way around. So I don't know... this has never happened to me before. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced it. If not, I'm going to assume the supplier is lying and this is some type of celulose fiber!

4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Knitting pattern author as model... what do you think? on: June 14, 2007 11:33:05 PM
I've created a couple of knitting patterns lately, and I modeled both of them. I'm working on two more right now and I'm knitting them for my size and plan to model them too. If you ran across my shop and I had those patterns up, all modeled by me, what would you think? Does it come across as arrogant?

My friends would probably be happy to model for me, but I like to knit the samples for myself, in my size. And I like to show that I'm proud of my design. But I'm starting to think it might be weird if I'm in ALL of my patterns... well, unless I do some menswear, and then it'll be my husband.  Cheesy

Your opinions please.
5  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / Rainforest yarn! on: June 13, 2007 10:52:34 PM
I ran across the book "Rainforest" by Thomas Marent awhile back and thought it would be so fun to duplicate some of the pictures in yarn. I finally got around to it last week. I thought it was challenging, but I loved the results:

It got me all inspired to try other books, like maybe a whole book on roses perhaps?
