1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Zero/NBC painting on: November 13, 2009 04:37:44 AM
I made this painting for my partner in the 13 Days of Halloween swap:

and you can see the difference that the lighting makes on how the moon face comes out:

I actually cut all the pieces of Zero's body out seperately of tissue paper and 'painted' them on, as well as with the moon, so that there was more texture. I have to give credit to putting Jack's face in the moon to my hubby, who also suggested I not do it in black as I originally did, but more of a two-tone effect. I think it looks pretty cool, although the pic doesn't really do it justice. Smiley

Thanks for looking!

First time swappers welcome!

Details of swap:

Are you as eagerly awaiting the release of the fourth volume of the Twilight Saga as I am? Have you just been dying to participate in a little Twilight-related crafting to keep your hands occupied until they're clutching your pre-ordered copy of Breaking Dawn? Have you declared allegiance to Team Edward, Team Jacob, or are you Team Switzerland? Does your boyfriend sparkle?

If you answered yes to any of these questions (especially the last one!), then you might want to consider this swap! It's really a mini-swap that won't require too much time, and we want to receive our goodies before the release of Breaking Dawn on August 2, so we've kept the sign up period short (one week) and the crafting period fairly short as well (three weeks).

We will be crafting a minimum of one medium item and three small items. If you want to spoil your partner with an excess of Twilighty goodness, wonderful, but please discuss this with your partner because they may not be able/willing to do the same. Please note that I expect good communication and ask that you post on the thread at least once per week as a form of check-in. If you cannot to commit to the swap and minimum requirements, please wait for the next round!

Some ideas for items to craft could include but are certainly NOT limited to:

-fan art
-key chains
-picture frame
-tote bag
-book cover

Honestly I could go on forever but you get the idea!

7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My First Poppet on: February 22, 2008 09:55:51 AM
Well, here she is, finally...I have to say, she was a long time in the 'imagining' before she was awhile in the making...I finally got hair on her last night (I feel like I wefted and sewed hair forever yesterday) and then quickly crocheted a dress and panties for her so she wasn't nakey when I photographed her. She does not have a name yet, as she is for my daughter who hasn't seen her yet.

and her close up:

Here is my daughter with her new friend:

I imagine that I'd do several things differently next time; definitely less or thinner hair, as hers is ridiculously heavy and abundant! Also, I'd sew her head on lower and at a better angle and put lashes on. Definitely a great first try, I think though. My next poppet is going to be a snow bunny so I'm pretty excited for that!

Thanks for looking!
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / The Last Unicorn on: February 18, 2008 05:55:53 PM
Well I had a better scan of this, but craftster pic hosting absolutely refused to upload it...weird. This was made for my partner in the 80's Fantasy Movie swap, and it took me forEVER. I will never underestimate an embroidery project again!!!

Thanks for looking!

here's the photobucket link for a more detailed image:
9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Embroidered Sugar Skull on: February 04, 2008 06:15:21 PM
I embroidered this sugar skull for my partner in "The Great Skull Swap" swap. It is an original design and measures approx. 4x6. You can't really see it in these crappy pics, but I used white stitching all in the background to give it consistent texture.

10  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Pullip clothes for Pullip/Dal Winter Swap on: January 16, 2008 07:25:59 AM
I made these outfits for my swap partner's Pullips, but I'll let my own Shiori do the honors (sorry about the lighting, I thought it was fine when I took the pictures and of course I don't have the outfits any more to redo them). Just on a side note, this was the first time I have sewed doll clothes! I got the link from someone here on Craftster, these are all patterns from the same web site.

First item was an outfit that I call "Valentine's Day Casual". The hat is reversible using both fabrics from the shirt (reg. cotton) and the skirt (kind of a stretchy denim).

Here is the bunny cape, I will need to make more of these I'm sure:

Here is the blue capelet set:

and the red:

I love these sets because they remind me of german fairy tale outfits. Smiley These pics don't do the linings justice, they are vibrant flannel print fabric.
