11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Dia de los Muertos / Mexican Folk Art Swap (signups thru 4/30; send outs 5/30) on: June 03, 2011 02:28:08 AM
thanks so much to everyone so far for staying in touch - y'all are all doin momma proud! the packages are rolling in over in the gallery and everything that's been posted so far has been absolutely amazing!!

in other news, swapper DeeDee5555 ended up in the hospital this weekend in a pretty serious condition. she's stable now and doing good, and has sent a friend home for her craft supplies so she can work on the swap while they're keeping her in the hospital!!!  i hope you all will join me in sending good thoughts / prayers / positive energy her way for a speedy recovery!

seriously, only a true craftster could demand supplies to work on her partner's items WHILE IN THE ICU!!!!! Sending all my positive thoughts her way!!!!
12  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Dia de los Muertos / Mexican Folk Art Swap GALLERY (send outs 5/30) on: June 01, 2011 10:04:01 PM
so far everything in the gallery is sort of making me eye-twitchy. As in, gee I hope my stuff holds up to the gallery *eye twitch*

Oh, well...I sent off today. With crappy cell phone pics, since I still haven't found my camera. Hopefully my partner will be able to take better ones (and everything arrives intact; that was interesting getting everything in the damned box).

well although everything is done, I cannot find my camera. I know I've seen it recently and am tearing the house apart for it. My cell phone camera is definitely not going to do this stuff justice and I really want nice pics to put in my craft portfolio.

I have already decided to give myself the night to find it because my hubby's about to leave for work in our only car. If I don't find it by morning, cell phone pix just to prove they were made and off the package ships.

Best laid plans, eh? Ugh. (Also slightly worried about where the heck my camera is...)

I finally collected enough _____ to finish one of my items (I have no idea whether it's large...all my projects have essentially been ongoing for a month lol).

However, it's been so hot all weekend I am wondering if the finishes will be dry enough to mail. I will judge tomorrow. I'd hate to ship and have it all end up a gloppy horrible stuck together mess.

Shocked Shocked Shocked  WOW! <gulp> Wow so far sooo amazing.. I am working like crazy and only one thing is giving me grief, but it will come together! Still ideas are bigger than my fingers but I'm making it happen for a Saturday ship..it's later than I wanted but I hate that work gets in the way!  err ummm saturday's ok right?

hey now partner...I am sure you are doing amazing work. Also, I am not mailing out til the deadline to let things properly...cure I guess for lack of better word and because the big one's not done...so...no worries!!!!

My husband looked around at the kitchen where everything is laid out in various stages of completion and was like, 'How many freakin' swaps are you doing?" and of course I had to sheepishly answer..."One." lol

yeah so I pretty much just looked at the stuff I have been toiling over and shook my head. Talk about raising the bar. Oh, well. I think anything made with love and attention will emanate those energies but DAMN these two packages really make it even more nerve-wracking to mail!!!!

deepest condolences, VZ. Sad

I have been taking a few days off crafting other than tweaking things. I am starting to worry I won't have collected enough _______s for the main project by the send date. It's one of those things you can't just go out and buy! Ugh.

I am notorious for losing needles in the arm of the couch. One night my son laid his head on the arm and got poked by a needle. He jumped up and yelled to his girlfriend  "My Mom just tried to shank me in the dome". Shocked Tongue

BAHHHAHAHAHAAAA totally relaying this one to the hubby...I have a feeling it will get used from now on when he encounters errant needles!

my hubby's cat ate a needle when he was younger so he's definitely paranoid when I leave them around (like even stuck in the cloth I am sewing). My dog eats our underwear and socks...it's ridiculous how many new undergarments I buy because she's so good at getting them from the hamper. She eats other stupid stuff, and so did our twin pugs when we had them a few years ago. One or both of them destroyed a fur purse I had and three pairs of glasses. I cannot even begin to tally the destruction total to animals I've owned in the last seven years!!!! (we didn't have any pets with my first husband so no issues there!)

Oh, well, I guess the unconditional love they give us has a price Wink
