61  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / How to get to Sesame Street - Halter top with tie waistband on: August 08, 2007 04:43:33 PM
Just finished this top from about a yard or two of Sesame Street material I got hold of from a thrift store for about 2 bucks.

I'm really chuffed with how it turned out and it fits like a dream, I made up the pattern as I went along really, I intended on making a dress but my fashion forward husband convinced me that it would be too busy, so I'm making a skirt with the leftover fabric.

The back view looks as though the zip is wonky but it's just me the way I'm standing and my husband didn't think to tell me that I needed to straighten up!! It's darker than it appears in the photos, a dark turqouise

Would love to hear what you think.

STOP PRESS: With the extra material I did make a dress after all, a T-shirt recon which looks pretty cool if I do say so myself, and took like an hour to make! pictures coming soon.

62  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Holy Handbags Batman!!! Superhero bag on: July 21, 2007 07:15:55 AM
Just finished this yesterday from the same material as the Capped sleeve dress http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=182513.msg1899812#msg1899812

All the fabric is thrifted so as cheap as chips.

I used the free Burda pattern then added the extra material at the top to give it a kind of pepper pot shape.

63  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / 2 Reversible bags in contrast materials on: July 11, 2007 01:08:27 PM
Thanks to the fab tutorial by ihearttrees I made two bags reversible bags yesterday, they look a bit plain to me so I'm considering what to add to them, any ideas would be much appreciated.

I would suggest anyone looking to sew their first bag to follow the tutorial, it is so easy to understand and lots of photos. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=32264.0

My god I now have a new found respect for the quilters, I am a very slap dash kinda girl and triangles were probably not the best shape but I do like the overall result if I do say so myself, bear in mind that it is my first tote, it's reversible and I've never done patchwork before.

Would love to hear what you think.

65  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / First dress/tunic on: July 11, 2007 12:08:45 PM
This was my first ever attempt at a dress, and I must say I am quite happy with it, now that I've made quite a few things since I can see where I went wrong but for a first, no pattern attempt, I think the girl done good.

Excuse the awful photo, husband trying to take photo to appease me whilst sat down in his chair watching CSI Miami!!! he has succeeded in making me look cross eyed as a payback for interrupting him!

What d'ya reckon?

66  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / WACK POW THUMP Kids sheet into cute micro dress with capped sleeves on: July 11, 2007 11:57:33 AM
My first dress from a pattern and a kids sheet for a wopping 6 bucks!!

I'm well chuffed with it, wasn't sure about having such a loud dress but I was convinced to make a statement dress so here it is. I'm thinking about adding a section at the bottom as I cut the dress too short so I need to wear leggings under it, following the petite lines in error (oops!!)

Let me know what you think, would love to hear comments (nice ones please!!) Grin

Piccy of dress on (fingers crossed)

67  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / First post - Mums birthday handbag project on: July 11, 2007 11:34:37 AM
This is my first bag made from the free Burda pattern listed in the Ultimate tutorial guide for bags etc. It has appliqued heart and star on an inside pocket, and plenty of beads and diamante which you can't make out that well, because the photo isn't too light but it is very sparkly!

It also looks a bit wonky, but that's the way it's laid out on the floor (honest I promise!!)

Really pleased with the finished item and can't wait for my Mum to open it tomorrow!

Any comments would be appreciated.
