Connect them together with decorative hinges?

Use them as covers for journals/scrapbooks/photo albums?

Christmas gifts?

browse through the forum on papercrafts, especially the recycled projects.  Also, the jewelry making crowd sometime has great projects using pics or parts of pages.

You could still make book purses if you made a (book)cover for them---very retro!: think about middle school--reading the latest "naughty" book with a paper cover you crafted yourself!!!  Or graft on a cover from a "crotch novel" --err, formula romance novel I mean!

Try shredding some pages to make new paper. (after grabbing any cool pics first, of course!)

Do these suggestions give you any good ideas?
(and I agree--I hate to see these trashed, but then their sheer enormity is paralyzing when trying to think crafty!)

Church rummage sales often have hand knitted or crocheted items that can be unstitched for yarn.

Just ask--friends family co-workers.  If you are in need of whatever, just spread the word.  Usually it won't be long till you are swimming in widgets or whatever you need!

A bowlful on a table would make a pretty decoration.

CAn you paint them (dry 'em out first)
Use for game markers?

CAn you drill a hole through them and use them like beads?

Press into slightly softened candles?

crochet covers or use fabric to recover for baby blocks. (remove hanging strings of course)

Glue pictures on each side for a photo cube (you could combine the two ideas by printing photos on fabric---would make a neat personalized idea fopr a baby/shower gift!)

Drive them into a barn wall to use for a peg hook?
solder something on top for yard art?
Drive into a tree to hang stuff on?

Carry one in your purse to slug a would-be assailant alongside the head?  Okay, I'm just being silly now!  Let us know what you decide to do with them.

I took my kids old sleeping bags and removed the zippers and just used some sheets to quilt them back together (the covers were ratty and letting the stuffing hang out.) Worked pretty well---they look like quilts now.  I can't address the question of fire retardant chemical----how old are the bags in question? Not sure how long the flame retardant stuff has been required.

I have also been known to take odds and ends of quilt batting and cut 'em up into small pieces to use as stuffing for pillows or dolls or stuffed animals or to fill sagging beanbag chairs.

MAmadurk (good luck with it!)

Can you post a pic of a few of them?  Might get the ideas rolling.  (I don't use make up and am drawing a total blank on a "non-box, plexi thingy"!)
