131  Flowery flounce shirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by FruityLoops on: February 22, 2008 03:11:48 PM
Hi all,

Posting my new top cos I'm really happy with it Grin  It's made from New Look 6561, a mix of view D and E, unfortunately I managed to gain a stupid 4 stone last year which put me just outside of the size range the pattern was for though (I bought it a couple of years back) so I had to add a little on all the sides when cutting my pieces but it fits quite well considering I had to mangle it a bit!

I made a cloak from pattern last year but this was my first attempt at doing proper clothing from pattern so I was kinda cacking myself a bit about it but I was pleasantly surprised about how easy it was to make (once I deciphered the pattern).  I call it the flowery flounce shirt, the fabric is 1-way stretch jersey, and I'd defo like to make another one in perhaps a lighter crepey fabric for summer.

On Diana my dress-form who unfortunately wears it much better than me!

Attempting to get decent piccies of it on me on my return from wearing it out... a lil drunk...

And now the embarassing action piccie of me wearing it out to my friends 30th fancy dress bday party as I had made it for that, I am suppoooosed to be a hippy  Huh I made the trousers as well from some old black trousers and leftover fabric, they would have been more flarey but I didn't have enough, also made a pleated hippy headband if you can just see it, lol.  I think round pink sunglasses would have made the outfit but I didn't have the time to go into town so I tried to be more hippy by drawing flowers and hearts on my face with blue eyeliner!  I won the fancy dress prize somehow, lol.

Hope you like it, comments/critique/laughter welcome Cool

Thanks for looking Smiley

I have more adventures of Chip the chocolate kiss to brighten your day!!

This weekend was finally the arrival of my performance playing on keys with my bloke's band for my mate Sammy's birthday party, so Chip has been helping me to practise all week, and she and Bogey (Chunk's little brother) spent Friday evening trying to help me make my fancy dress outfit

She was too young to come to the party unfortunately but she came with us to pick up the car that we left at the venue car park, here she is saying goodbye to my mate Jo that was visiting from Wales and trying to be funny by graffiti-ing my car!!

Today Chip the chocolate kiss visited my office in the incredibly boring town of Tewkesbury, she managed to distract herself most of the day looking out the window at the pea-soup fog and at my cacti, but when she wasn't doing that I managed to capture some shots of her antics!

Cheeky Chip trying to eat my amaretti biscuits!!
Chip meets the office bully, Rowlf Sad
Yey, getting her own back!!
Finally getting to look on Craftster...I mean working!!  Roll Eyes

Seriously tell me if I'm p*ssin you guys off though, I tend to get a bit carried away and Chip is just so danged cute I can't stop taking pics of her!!

Loverly package, loving those napkins.  Mmmm n see all the chocolatey goodness, how much have you already eaten now? Wink  I think I'm going to crack open some Hersheys now while I'm waiting for the man to come home, t he he.

The latest adventures of Chip the Chocolate Kiss (sorry about hijacking the chocoholics gallery with gratuitous Chip shots )!!!  I had the day off and went out to a couple of local villages with my folks who are visiting at the mo, Chip insisted on coming along in my bag and getting in on the fun!  They were intensely embarassed at my taking pictures of her but I can't imagine why  Roll Eyes

135  Retro cupcake shoulder bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by FruityLoops on: February 11, 2008 03:29:28 PM
Hi all, just wanted to show this bag I made recently, I sent it to Nevergirl for the Chocoholics unanimous swap.

Features cool retro print canvas-type fabric on the outer that I love, and the cupcake aspect is made from felt (the icing is sparkly light blue but you can't really see in the pic) and beads and my first messy attempt at an embroidery stitch  Shocked  It has like extra heavy interfacing so holds it shape pretty good.  It's square bottomed by the way, the angle of the pic just makes it look a bit odd shaped!

The lining is a super cupcake design  Grin with zipped pocket.

Hope you like it, comments/critique welcome  Cool

Please say hello to Chunk the Chocolate zombie/voodoo plushie Grin  He's had a bit of a hard life as you can tell from the strawberry fondant leaking from him, he gives as good as he gets though and his favourite zombie move is the Truffle Shuffle!

I made Chunk for Nevergirl in the chocoholics unanimous swap (round 2) using felt and embroidery floss, my first visit into the world of plushie making!
Hope you like him, comments/critique welcome Cool

Since everyone seems to be gagging for some more photos, and since my swap package from Nevergirl just turned up this morning, aaaand since I'm soooo excited about it all I shall post some pics!!

An overview of everything, took huge willpower to take pics rather than jumping up and down at this stage!
Note the huge chocolate selection, Nevergirl sent me 3 huge Hersheys bars cos I looove Hersheys, Hersheys special dark choc, 2 Skor bars (I think these are like Dime bars in the UK), 2 packs of Junior Mints (hoping they're like UK Poppets cos I looove them), Caramello, Rolo (they brought out low carb versions of rolos over here btw, seems very daft, they were very short-lived though!), yummy Dagoba latte bar (sooo difficult to get hold of over here!), and loooads of mini kitkats and chocolate eclair sweeties for packing!!

A superb big coffee mug and some dutch cocoa from her local coffee place/shop (Peet's Coffee & Tea) which I shall be using/tasting this evening!

And NOW ONTO THE CRAFTS!!!  Here are my fabulous feet cosies being posed by my show-off feet Cheesy  I was stalked well there and I've been wearing them all day!

Loverly khaki coloured mug cosy, complete with my new mug and in front of our coffee machine ready to be used!!  I love that it goes through the handle with a nice a big button  Cool

And finally this is the fabulous chocolate kiss she made me who I have named Chip!!  She will be coming with me to bowling league this evening to cheer us on Wink  She's already been very busy going around meeting everyone in the house, this is her meeting Boingo the wi-fi bunny.

And this is her trying to scare my bloke with her big giant eyes!

And trying to integrate with my other little monsters Wink

I'm soooo happy I had Nevergirl as my first swap partner cos she's been suuuuper!!  Thank you so much for everything Laura Wink

139  Largish tote shopping bag and giant buttons in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by FruityLoops on: January 06, 2008 04:01:13 PM
I'm so rubbish at thinking up subject lines!!

Just wanted to show a couple of bags I made as xmas pressies, it's the first xmas since I got into crafting and so I decided to make as many xmas pressies as I had time to do (which wasn't as many as hoped unfortunately!).

This one I made for my Ma, her first Loop Da Loop bag Cheesy  Wanted to do quite a big bag for her to use shopping.  The main fabric I love but hadn't managed to use before this as the print is quite big, I got about 5 metres (by about 30cm) for something like 2.50 in an upholstery shop as a remnant, and the beige base fabric was from a cushion cover I bought in a charity shop, although I will admit I'm not sure about these colours together.  I looove the lining fabric too (bought it in 3 colours  Wink) which I got on sale in a local craft store.  It looks a bit flat from the picture but it has like a rectangle bottom (albeit not huge).

It has a magnetic closure, and a zip and open pocket inside and a couple of nice long straps so she can have the bag on her shoulder.

And this bag I made for my mate Sammy.  She had wanted a nice sizey bag with zip and had said how much she liked this fabric when I did a bag for someone else so I had to use it.  I used 3 giant buttons for decoration on the front.  I swear after making this bag I never wanted to do another zip again, the zip part essentially went fine but I totally mucked up the way I attached the straps and they look very odd where they're connectd.  I wasn't totally happy about giving it to her but she road-tested it yesterday on a shopping trip and said it was great.

I hate the lilac satin lining!!  I usually love giving bags a nice luxurious satin lining but I'm totally gonna buy thicker princess satin in future cos this lilac satin I got is quite thin and was a pain in the arse to sew and as you can see is a bit droopy in the pockets.

140  Knitted xmas figures in Winter Holidays by FruityLoops on: January 06, 2008 03:15:37 PM
Hiya,

Hope this is ok but I just wanted to post some knitted xmas decorations that my Nan made, I took piccies of them whilst at my parents house this xmas.  She died about a year and a half ago now and these figures that she made still come out every year at my parents house in memory of her.

She used to love knitting and knitted a lot of characters for charity events and friends, she particularly liked Jean Greenhowe patterns (I know the figures below are from those books, I'm not sure about the robin one though).  My sister and I learnt to knit and crochet from her when we were little, I hope to take it up again at some point.
