So I've had this faaaaabulous Thundercats fabric, that I picked up at a market, sat in my stash for years and years and never known what to do with it. I had recently pondered making maybe an apron or a big bag with it.
But then a few weeks ago we had our monthly "Carvery Club" outing for Sunday munchies and I couldn't decide what to wear so I decided to knock up a skirt with the beautious fabric
Now I'm not that daring when it comes to sewing my own clothing so pretty much every skirt I've made before now has been a circle skirt, but I didn't have that much fabric and if it were circle then the pattern would have been the wrong way up for most of the skirt, soooo I decided to step it up and made a 6 gored skirt, eeeeek! Didn't bother with a pattern, just used a calculator, a pen, and a couple of rulers
I even popped in a nice big pocket on either side because I hate having clothing without pockets, plus I've always wanted to try making a skirt or dress with pockets!!
Mr Loops reckoned it would be better if I'd matched up the pattern, but the pattern was very repetitive plus of course I didn't have enough to be able to do that, so 'fraid not!!
Holy moley, I can't believe it's been over 2 years since I last posted. Craziness!!!
Well I'm still making owls anyways and here are 2 of my latest. Please say hi to Dr Hoo 10 and 11!
My sister looooooves Dr Who, specifically David Tennant, and she's also a big fan of my owls. So when I was home for Xmas 2011 we had to take her to A&E (ER to non-Brits), and at some point there (somewhere between 2 and 6am ) I promised I'd make her a David Tennant owl. And being the the mean sister that I am I made her wait aaaaaall year, so that she'd forget about it obviously, and finally made her one for Xmas 2012!
Complete with removeable 3D glasses to make sure he can see void stuff if needed

I would have liked to have made him a suit from some nice cotton stripy fabric rather than fleece but I'm still looking for the perfect fabric :-)

Anyways, then after making the Tenth Doctor Who/Hoo for my Sis, I decided it would be awesome to make an owl version of ALL the doctors!!! Alas I haven't had time to do that yet, but the Eleventh Doctor Who - Matt Smith, I have had time to make
Show and tell So my aim of this week was to cut down on carbs such as bread/pasta/rice/potatoes, but without upping my fat intake!
Last night I was looking through the freezer and decided I needed to eat up some of the stuff that had been in there ages (namely prawns, cod, and mushrooms), so I made myself a stir fry! As well as prawns, cod and lots of mushrooms, it also contained leek, cabbage, peas, a fresh mushroom, lots of garlic and a smidge of cheese Was certainly filling, and had 4 of my daily portions of veg in it, bargains, I love stir fries!
And tonight Mr Loops had a mate over to watch movies and eat very unhealthy food with (namely big fat pizzas with extra toppings and cheese on, and a key lime pie for dessert) so I made sure to plan and eat my food before they started cooking so that I didn't get tempted!!
So I made a kind of turkey curry (ish), with mushrooms, red pepper, onion, spring onions, a few cooked potatoes I had left over (canned), some turkey I needed to get rid of out of the freezer (again), some extra light soft cheese, hot curry powder and herbs, with a nice portion of yummy [microwaved] cauliflower rice on the side
I do love a bit of invention in the kitchen! Not sure the piccies do them justice but they were both yummy meals and very low fat and low carb, yey

Rodriguez was born into a wealthy family in Guadalajara, Mexico. Alas he rebelled from his priviledged life, left Guadalajara and formed a group of Banditos to terrorise owls passing through the Laser-Shark Mountains!!
After 10 years of Banditting he left Mexico to travel the world in search of a posse worthy of skills! ˇVámonos!

Well I promised Becca I'd post piccies of the other Girl Guide Owl I made, so here she is
I was commissioned to make this owl on the basis of my first guider owl - Rosie) for the 20th anniversary of the Staindrop Rainbows troop(? - soz if wrong term, I don't know much about guides!) as a gift for a lady who had been there from day one!!
Her outfit colours are based on those of the Staindrop Rainbows with embroidered trefoil on her breast, and they requested a tag with her name, title, and her dates of 'service' (on the back) embroidered on.
The name of the troop is also embroidered across the back
Alas she isn't quite 100% complete in these pictures as I hadn't any ribbon to hang the tag around her neck, but I ended up getting the most perfect rainbow ribbon to hang it on!!
She was presented to their troop leader after the 20th anniversary party and I was sent a lovely little piccie of them together
So I've never been a particular fan of owls, I mean they're ok but I wouldn't want to marry one, and yet recently all I want to do is make more and more owl stuffies (see previous post)! Not girly cutesy owls though, I make the odd girly one on request, but I prefer my owls to be a little dangerous.... like Rob......
Rob is a Zombie Owl. He wasn't always though. Poor Rob was asleep on his sofa after a long night of drinking and playing on his games console when unfortunately a zombie caught him at his most vulnerable (e.g. hungover and half nekkid!) and the rest is history.
Now he wanders the streets with a hunger for the living... or a nice tikka masala with pilau rice and a cold beer.
Watch out little vampire bush baby, he doesn't care if you're undead, he still wants a bite!!!!
I had hoped to make all my Xmas presents this year, but alas illness and time constraints worked against me.... but here is the journey of one of my handmade gifts this year, a stuffie of Stewie Griffin from Family Guy for my mate Sammy's boyfriend :-D

In hindsight he's a bit too lanky and I should have made his head muuuch bigger, I didn't consider how much his shape would change when sewn together, but I think the recipient was happy with his gift and I certainly enjoyed making him! :-D
Getting a bit snug to the deadline, but I can't let a Halloween pass without getting in my Halloween Costume entry
So this year my friend Spammy and I decided to co-host a Halloween party at my house, and thus having costumes along the same theme. Soooo after discussions we decided upon Victoriany looking (not historically correct by any means!!) vampire sisters!!
Not THE most inventive costume idea in the world I admit, but I put a lot of work into them and made most of both of our outfits and we luuuuuurve them and can't wait to find an opportunity to wear them again. In fact I wore the skirts from my Halloween outfit to the supermarket today
Soooo... what was crafted I hear you say??
HATS Bought a cheap fancy dress sequin top hat for each of us ~ Removed black ribbon and crappy piece of net ~ Got the hot glue out ~ Glued burgundy velvet ribbon round them ~ Dismantled and glued big black fake flower ~ Cut and glued cobweb lace veil
CHOKERS Found THIS awesome choker online but wanted to make as much as possible, plus couldn't really afford to buy after spending so much on fabrics and decorations (and booze ). Soooo... Velvet ribbon ~ attached velcro to ends ~ Fixed flat back red gems as vampire bite ~ Attached red blood droplets [beads] to chain and attached to choker
EARRINGS Made some earrings to match the droplets on our chokers. Apologies for the artsy photo, I only had the one I took for my folksy page!
SKIRTS I made us 3 skirts each for the look. Black net underskirt for a bit of poof! Red satin circle skirt. Black glittery cobweb lace hankerchief hem overskirt.
BOLERO Bought us each a plain black long-sleeved t-shirt from the supermarket ~ cut the sleeves to around elbow length ~ cut the t-shirts to a bolero jacket type shape ~ did a massive amount of gathering to a massive amount of black chiffon ribbon ~ attached frilly ribbon to boleros ~ attached squares of cobweb lace to the sleeves to make some drapey sleeves
(Apologies for the strange boobage of my dressform, to emulate my mahoosive boobage she wears a big turquoise padded bra which I tried to cover with my half-sarong, but alas the camera flash has x-ray vision!!)
TEETH Using some friendly plastic I also made my own vampire fangs with the help of THIS tutorial. However apparently denture glue stuff doesn't work on my teeth cos even though they were custom made to fit my teeth they still wouldn't stay in and as such I have no piccies
In addition we each wore a non-me-crafted top under our bolero.

I squuuuuuuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Halloween I just wish it was a bit bigger here in the UK. I try to do my part though by holding a Halloween party every year, even though the list of attendees seems to get smaller as all my friends have kids and decide that costume parties aren't for them anymore. Boring farts I say!!
Aaaaanyways..... on to a couple of decs I did this week Papier mache pumpkin!
I'm afraid I did cheat a little as I bought the papier mache base from Hobbycraft, but this is my pumpkin gal after I... - coated her with orange acrylic paint - did some shading and dappling - coated her in glitter glue to make her sparkly and give her more of a shine - hot glued some fake autumnal leaves and then glittered the leaf veins (my first time with a glue gun, my new favourite tool!!)
Planning to pop her on the coffee table, on a nice black sparkly cobweb lace tablecloth, with some LED tealights inside
I've also been working on making a wreath this week for the front door I took a polystyrene ring and covered it in rusty orange coloured ribbon, and then cut up some more fake leaves, and cut out a load of bats/skulls/ghosties out of foam
Then got the hot glue out again!!! I started with the larger leaves and then added some smaller leaves on top, then added some googly eyes to my foam skulls n ghosties and added them to the wreath. Then I recalled some grey-black [fake] roses I'd bought the other day and decided to add those around the centre. And then I got the glitter out again and glittered the leaf veins and the petals of the roses
