11  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Alien Illusion Scarf Question on: August 02, 2004 12:24:13 PM
I'm finally starting on it and the pattern calls for size US 7 needles.  Well I got through it halfway and the scarf was too big (10 in. wide) so I'm using US 5 needles to get it to the 7in. width.  As anyone else had gauge problems using the size 7 needles?  or I just knit big.. (usually I'm great with gauge in patterns.)

14  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Scarf Swap on: July 17, 2004 01:19:44 PM
I don't know if this one existed but how about a scarf swap since the weather will be changing soon.  It could be knitted, crocheted, or sewn scarves.  I know a lot of people here make scarves for their friends and family, so I think it would be a cool suprise to have a scarf from a stranger.  Smiley
15  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Monroe Intarsia Pattern on: June 18, 2004 07:55:49 AM
Since I had nothing better to do, I decided to create some intarsia patterns using Monroe Dingbat font I dowloaded back in 2000.  Here's the first one I've completed:

and the knitted sample.

I cheated a bit b/c I carried the yarn behind my work instead of having blocks of color for each section as you can see below:

There's more to come in upcoming weeks so I'll post them as soon as I'm done.
16  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Bag pattern for Boucl yarn on: April 17, 2004 04:11:33 PM
This past week I bought 2 skeins of Lion Brand Lion Boucl in Gelato and instead of making a hat or a scarf, I want to try making a bag from it.  My problem is I can't find a good beginner's bag pattern for me to start with.

Can someone lead me in a good general direction for a simple free bag pattern?

Much thanks in advance!
17  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / POM Wonderful Juice Glass Vases on: March 09, 2004 11:58:37 AM
I wanted to know if anyone has tried to turn those pom wonderful pomegranate juice jars into flower vases?  I know I saw a few postings somewhere about how a few people wanting to remove the paint on them when they're sold.  Well I'm going to try using paint stripper (the stuff you use on furniture) to remove the paint and then use transparent glass paints to decorate the few I'm collected.  I'll try to post a few pictures of my progress once I'm done with one and give you craftsters a how-to on doing it.  wish me luck!  Wink
18  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / From round to straight on: January 28, 2004 02:48:41 PM
I wanted to know if it's possible to knit a circular needle pattern with straight knitting needles?  I know you can sew a straight needle pattern with circs so I want to know if the reverse is possible.

I'm asking because I'm trying to do the kitty cat from snb but I cannot get to my lys due to the weather and me being sick for two weeks.
19  UNITED STATES / Washington, D.C. / Meetup.com on: December 21, 2003 11:19:07 AM
Since I live in Baltimore, Maryland I thought this might be a good place to place this.

For the Baltimore Area meetups need more crafty people to help jumpstart a few of them like book arts, jewelry making, sewing and a few others.  It's free to join and hopefully we can have a lot of people to discuss all things crafty.

20  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / The Big Thread of "Help Me Find a Pattern, Please!" on: November 24, 2003 07:20:44 AM
Hi.  I just registered today.

Does anyone know where I can find a good clutch bag pattern?  I went to Joann's I saw one for an evening bag but it wasn't what I'm looking for.   Sad
