1  Re: Sock Monkey/ Sock Critter Gallery in The Swap Gallery by yackyjan on: April 12, 2010 03:51:30 PM
Yeeeehawww!  Got my package from bobbiemay today and I'm wild about my new sock monkey...and his horse!  I opened him in the car with my friend, Joy and we were both squeeling!

Not only did I get a cowboy monkey that will fit right in here at Sock Monkey Ranch, but he came with his very own horse.  The details on this monkey and his horse are amazing!

I introduced him to the other cowboys on the ranch and before he could even tell them his name, they dubbed him "Dude" and once a cowboy gets saddled with a nickname, he's got it forever.

Thank you so much, bobbiemay, for this adorable fellow and for the Conestoga Wagon, too. My grandsons will have fun putting that together.

Have to tell you, though...all the other cowboys are right jealous about Dude's horse.  They'll probably be bugging me for one of their own.  Thanks for the fun swap!

6  Amelia takes Flight in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by yackyjan on: July 25, 2009 08:26:41 PM
Here's one more that I did recently for a girl who shares a birthday with Amelia Erhart.  It was a birthday gift, so I did a party dress, but also gave her a flight jacket, cap and goggles so she was ready to take flight.

She's a Raspberry Truffle sock monkey, hand-dyed to pink perfection.

8  Miss Mollie Sweet Tooth in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by yackyjan on: April 22, 2009 01:00:20 PM

I'd like you to meet Miss Mollie Sweet Tooth.  She's the latest little monkey born at Sock Monkey Ranch and is the little sister of Miss Millie, the fiesty little gal who owns and rund the ranch.  Some people say that Miss Millie and Miss Mollie look so much alike that sometimes they're mistaken for twins.  There is one major difference, however...Miss Mollie has a major sweet tooth.  Heck, she has a whole mouthful of them, which is why she's insisting on carrying a big bag of sugar with her at all times.  That way she can dip into it when ever she needs a picker-upper...sometimes she doesn't even use a spoon!

Thanks for letting me show her off.

9  Cletus Dean and Clovis Dean Baker in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by yackyjan on: February 23, 2009 12:54:58 PM
Cletus Dean Baker AKA Tumbleweed (on the right) has been hanging around Sock Monkey Ranch for quite some time, now, but his brother Clovis Dean Baker (on the left) just rolled into the ranch around dusk last night.

He and Cletus spent most of the evenin' sitting round the big old porch at the ranch house swappin' tall tales.  I'm not sure which one of them tells the biggest golly-whoppers, but they sure kept the ranch hands in stitches and wonderin' which of the stories were true and which were pure hog-wash.

I also hear that Ma Baker had a third son...Clarence Dean Baker.  (She gives all her boys her maiden name for a middle name...she was Etta Mae Dean before she married Pa Baker.)

Thanks for lookin'

10  I Love Lucy - Vitameatavegamin Sock Monkey (picture heavy) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by yackyjan on: February 21, 2009 10:27:48 AM
Woot-woot...I just finished a custom designed Lucille Ball sock monkey, fashioned after the Vitameatavegamin episode.  The dress is a replica of the one worn in the show.  I've even included a giant bottle of Vitameatavegamin, a spoon and a copy of the script Lucy read for the scene...and I made the monkey's head tilt just a little because she's...well, just a little tipsy!

Lucy was a lot of work, but my friend, who is a Lucy Fanatic is just going to love her!

Thanks for letting me show her off.
