3791  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Sweet Tooth Cardigan on: March 13, 2008 06:57:59 PM
Ah ha!  I always forget about this "stabilizer" stuff I'm always hearing about!  Duh!  Thanks for your reply!

They make a transfer pencil that you can use to trace or draw on to tracing paper, then iron on to your fabric.  Mine is red, I don't know if they come in other colors.  The directions say that you should make sure to cover any of the pencil marks with your stitches, but mine has washed right out of bright white cotton and linen every time.  This method doesn't change the texture or hand of your material at all, so if you're looking to stiffen it up at the same time I bet the iron-on transfer would be a better option.

Super cute!  I love the idea of transforming a cardigan that way!  I'm back at embroidery after a couple decades off (and all I did as a kid was a couple three kits), so I'm wondering how you managed to keep the cardigan from stretching out?  I'm assuming you used a hoop, but that's because that's all I know.
3794  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: nanner applique wristlet on: March 10, 2008 08:09:06 PM
Cute wristlet!  I like the way the banana matches the lining and your sewing looks very neat.

Don't be nervous, we're a friendly bunch, for the most part!

Now I totally want a t-shirt that says "I think I'll keep up the cephlopod theme."

You've created yourself a lovely and calming retreat there, lisadee!

How could someone not smile when looking at that?  At first I was just enamored of the charm of the materials and and "balance" of it, but then I noticed she kind of looks "hopping mad" and I giggled out loud!  Thanks!
3798  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Beautiful Use Swap. Signups Closed. Sendouts 2/29/08. on: March 07, 2008 08:29:56 PM
Golly!  Thanks!  I would love to seem all omnipotent and all, but it was a total stab in the dark with the napkins, that I happened to pick up at an estate sale before our partners were assigned, but hoping they'd be appropriate for this swap as they were so charming and so useful.  My gut told me you'd appreciate them, but I had no idea just how much!  I admit to having Northwesterner guilt about paper napkins, but sometimes, you know, every once in a while it's ok, right?  Wink
3799  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Re: Baby Bouquet with tutorial on: March 07, 2008 04:02:55 PM
That's really splendid!  I'm bookmarking this, as it's way more my style than the diaper cake.  It would make a great centerpiece for a shower, too!

Oh. My.  Never in a million years would I have believed that wearing other people's luggage would look that fantastic!  It's your first post and I'm going to hit This Rocks!
