22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Ro-mantis Pants, aka Praying Mantis Valentine Boxer Shorts (like ya do) on: February 14, 2015 12:38:11 PM

Someone showed me this super fun, cross stitch-y looking, Spoonflower print months and months ago and I immediately snapped some up to make boxer shorts for my guy for Valentine's Day.  I have made him dozens of pairs of boxers from fun prints over the years, but these are really something special.

This is the best kind of weird! Hitting this rocks!

I know you take "weird" as a compliment.  What a mind you have, these are great!

Thanks youse guys!

This is great.  I also like the whole idea of using sweetie/chocolate moulds to make moulded cheese shapes. So much more useful as canapes. Bookmarked for the future.  I'd also be grateful for any suggestions of other cheeses that could be moulded similarly. Would it work with any blue cheese?

I think what made this work is that it's a soft cheese, being at least half Camembert. I think brie and such would work well, too.  Something that is soft at room temp, but holds it shape.  I found NOTHING about doing this in my on online search.  This mould is very shallow and I suspect that helped with getting it out of the mould, but haven't tried any of my deeper moulds.  Yet!

This is perhaps less "cooking" and more "food crafting, but here's where I'm putting it unless someone shows me the right place.   Roll Eyes

On our first overnight trip together, The ManFlesh and I went to the Czech Republic for 3 weeks. (yup) And we drove all over in a little rental car and heard lots of pop music on the radio. One English-language song we heard a lot sounded like "Funky Cheese Madonna," which became one of our jokes-of-the-trip. We learned later the lyric is "she thinks that she's Madonna" in a song called "She's Madonna" by some guy named Robbie something. Soooooo for Valentine's Day I have made Madonnas out of funky cheese, Cambozola which happens to be his fave cheese.

I used a candy mould that I found online, softened the cheese to room temp, then chilled it again before popping them out of the mould.

More details about the process I used on my blog: http://suddenlytaxidermy.blogspot.com/2015/02/funky-cheese-madonna-of-how-i-used.html

What a fun idea!

I was bought a wooden deer recently that sits on my mantelpiece that has removable antlers, and we were joking about making him extra sets. Now I need to!

thanks! I just re-installed them yesterday.

And yes, you must make extra sets!  And then you must share them here
