SUMMARY
You will make 11 blocks from a pattern of your choice out of the fabric that is mailed to you plus one for yourself out of your own fabric.

DETAILS

You will be responsible for sending a minimum of 3 different fabric, totaling 3/8 of a yard, to each participant in your group. No piece should be smaller than 9"x9"  though larger pieces will accommodate for block design and mistakes. The more variety the better since this will give your partners more freedom for the block construction. You can prewash your fabric if you want but it's not necessary if that's not what you normally do.

If you have any particular idea or theme you would like your blocks to follow add a note along with your fabric. The requests do not have to be honored but it may give your partners ideas on where to go with your fabric. If you think you might want to add fabric from your own stash PLEASE contact group members first to see if it's ok. They might have a very specific color scheme in mind and only want their own fabrics included. Each block will measure 12.5" x 12.5". You may make the same block or all different blocks for group members. It's all up to you. Be sure to send back all extra scraps to their respected owners with their completed block. The finished quilt will be lap sized but this will vary depending on how each participant finishes their quilt.
Please only join if you are confident in your abilities to construct quilt blocks and have done so before. Everyone deserves an equal chance of getting a quality block for their final finished project.

MAILING
Please mail your fabric in a Ziploc type bag with a self addressed return label. Any type of label will do as long as it can be taped or stuck onto the return envelope. Please don't send the bags with the slider as it will add $$ to the postage. Gotta save money here!!

All the fabrics must be sent by 10/09/2009 with a DC# if mailing domestically.

All completed blocks must be sent by 12/22/2009.   DC # for mailing finished blocks is required.

People sending internationally do not have to get dc's, but they will need to save their postal receipts as proof of sending in case their packages don't make it.

GALLERY
Everyone will need to reserve themselves a spot in the gallery for posting their finished blocks. Just go post a comment in the thread and you have reserved your spot. You will go back and edit your post to include pictures of your finished blocks. Please do not start discussion until everyone has reserved a spot.  I will open the gallery after signups are complete.

COMMUNICATION
Participants will be asked to update every Monday on their progress. Please notify organizer/co-organizer of mailed and received fabrics and blocks. Notify in the event that you may be late sending. Late is better than never but at least we will know you still intend on doing so. If for some reason you feel you cannot finish your blocks be prepared to mail back everyone's fabrics. It's not fair that you would get to keep the fabric.

Feedback will be given as soon as you send all your completed blocks and they are received.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer: chinarockfishakm

I would be willing to run another installment if there is enough interest. It would follow the exact format of the previous swaps.

9  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / fabric help on: April 05, 2009 02:22:20 PM
Does anyone know good sources of 30's repro fabrics and civil war fabrics? I really thought I was settled for my Dear Jane quilt but im stuck between the two now. ARGH!
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / color themed lap quilt swap on: January 12, 2009 06:31:25 AM
Has there ever been one of these?
We could either make a certain amount of squares all in the color theme and mail to the group partners or swap fabrics in the colors much like the LQ4 (and others) swap. Im having a feeling for a red and blue quilt lately after seeing this great fabric and it might be fun to use it this way. If the theme was red and blue for example everyone would use some sort of red and blue combination of their choice to either mail pieces out to have blocks made for them and sent back or to make for the whole group themselves and send them out. Make sense? Hehe!
