1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / first quilt! on: June 15, 2007 08:47:18 PM
i was taking a break from another project and decided i'd try my hand at quilting.
it's a small baby blanket, so i'm using it as a wall hanging.

can anybody suggest any standard quilting patterns that are good for an extreme beginner like me? i'd like to make a bigger one, now and i'll probably continue making lots and lots more.. i'm already addicted  Grin
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / my first shot at making a journal on: June 15, 2007 08:42:24 PM
after spending half the night last night looking at other peoples' journals, i thought i'd make my own. i have tons of journals and sketchbooks all around the whole house and most of them i'd decoupaged (i'll post those later), but i wanted to try my hand at making the whole thing.

i used a cereal box covered in fabric for the cover and the yellow on there is yellow computer paper. then i added a big button and some thread to close it up.
it took all of maybe three hours and it was well worth it!

here's the view of the binding. obviously, it's not that tight but it's holding pretty well. i hope i'll be able to get it tighter as i continue making them.

thanks!
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / our day at the beach-- lots of pictures! on: June 15, 2007 08:34:03 PM
my honey and i went to bellingham washington to visit a friend and she took us to the beach. that's where i snapped this picture:

well, our anniversary was about a month later (june 12th) and i made this:

it took quite a long time (about three days) and my hand and fingers hurt for a couple of days after.

here it is from a couple of different views:

this is the stitchwork before i glued it into a box and painted on it:

and last but not least, i thought that the backside looked awesome so i wanted to share:

thank you for looking!

i wanted to include some pictures of my work, but since i'm new, i need to provide a link so you can look at them.
i hope you enjoy them!

each pose was a 2 minute sketch

these two were done during a 40 minute session

and finally, this was done in 40 minutes
