1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Star Trek Round 4 Gallery on: August 29, 2009 07:06:19 PM
all the packages look so wonderful. i'm glad i was able to be a part of this swap.
i've been very withdrawn because i have to take care of a relative who is battling cancer (diagnosed right after i signed up for the swap), but the things i crafted for my partner really helped me to get my mind on something positive when i had my bad moments. i got her package and love the things she made me, i'll be posting pictures early tomorrow morning.
her package will be waiting for her when she gets back from camping!

3  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Star Trek Swap Round 4: SIGNUPS June 1 - 15; SENDOUTS Aug. 25th on: June 08, 2009 10:20:48 AM
I also have not read any of the books.  I understand that lots of different people write them and I was worried that I'd end up reading the crappy ones! Cheesy

Yeah, it seems really hit or miss, though so far I've only read the ones that belong to my aunt (and the new movie one), so maybe she doesn't have great taste.  Out of maybe ten that I've read so far, only three or four were what I would call pretty good or better.  The others were.. alright.  I read really fast though and am always looking for new material, so even the not so good ST books were worth picking up, for me.

I don't know that I'd buy another ST novel without looking up lots of reviews first.

i'm a huge fan of the tos novels. sure, a lot are hit or miss but i've noticed that a lot of the really good authors have a handful of st titles under their belt. right now i'm reading the fate of the phoenix which is a follow up to the price of the phoenix. it's written by sondra marshak who only wrote those two and myrna culbreath who has written a slew of tos books.

6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Homemade Bagels!!!! on: November 09, 2008 07:47:27 PM
saw this post yesterday and decided to make a batch since i've never made bagels before. i was surprised how easy they were to make (considering all the steps).
i made half plain and half with garlic and sesame seeds. yum!

soo much cheaper than buying bagels at the store Smiley
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: Seattle Wall Decal on: November 09, 2008 12:11:41 PM
i was born in port townsend and moved to olympia with my family while in middle school, seattle trips were frequent since i have an aunt who lives there and they became more frequent after friends moved there to go to college.
now i live in portland and don't get to venture up quite often. reading about how far away you moved makes me feel grateful that i'm only a 3 hour drive away.

beautifully done on the decal. i'd leave the space needle the way it is, it gives it character!
