11  Re: Sweat Shoppe Swap Round 21 (signups til Nov 24) (send by Dec 14) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by disposableactor on: November 19, 2009 10:44:37 PM
Would my caterpillar bracelets be alright?

They're peyote stitched and then rewoven with embroidery floss that I herringbone weave at the ends to make ties.  Somebody mention having trouble getting bracelets to fit (I have the same problem) so I thought this way they can be made to fit any wrist.
I was also thinking of doing other colors too.

12  Re: Bead Soup Swap - Round 3 in The Swap Gallery by disposableactor on: November 09, 2009 06:03:35 PM
After an eternity I finally get around to posting Pirate's lovely bead soup she sent me.  Sorry it took so long my boys came home with the swine flu and things got a little distracting/crazy last week.
Here is a shot of everything together!

I am totally going to bead myself a windchime with the little brass(?) bells they are totally bohemian and will sound amazing when they all jingle at once.

and here is a pick of my favorites!

She made the super awesome crazy pink one in ceramics class I believe.

Aaaaaaaaand THREE pairs of earrings!

I received from babiestarlite13 yesterday!

I had everything arranged in neat little piles and then my cat thought they looked fun so they aren't that organized in the pic. The cloth came from her too! It's vintage and has little cross-stiitch fruits printed on it.
There are cell charm dangles, bottle caps, sequins, neato-burrito stripey beads, twirly and swirly brown beads and a bunch of other fun stuff.

Here's a closeup of the pretty red bracelet I got too!

I don't know what I'm going to make yet.  I just know I feel inspired to make . . . SOMETHING!  I don't know about y'all but I swear I sit and stare at my beads for hours before I get a good idea.

THANK YOU!  BABIESTARLITE13!

14  Hand Carved Skull Necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by disposableactor on: October 15, 2009 10:36:21 PM
A VooDoo/Haiti inspired woven hemp necklace.

Here's the one inch focal bead.  It's a hand carved (not by me) skull

Here's the whole necklace

And here's a shot of the back.  (I'm pretty proud of this part it looks just how I wanted it!

It was hard to get the color of the beads to show.  They are a dark toffee colored glass . . . kind of like a beer bottle.

15  Re: Little Swap of Horrors - Halloweekend in The Swap Gallery by disposableactor on: October 15, 2009 07:11:18 PM
My Man just brought my package from the mail!!!!

The before shot:

Good idea putting the "open last" because I totally went for it first.  My mom always told us that we had to open the card first . . . go fig.  Anyway, I did open it last!

The after:

I got a wallet and 3 buttons and a ghost lolly (the lolly itself was grape and had a skull on it Smiley) and a pair of awesome candy corn earrings!  (when I said "Yay! Candy corn!"  My husband about flew across the room to see if he could eat them)

Susanab is a psychic or something.  Seriously, right before I opened my package I was trying to figure out how I was going to carry my esentials to this Halloween part I'm going to.  And this cut little wallet is perfect!
The scull in the center is one of the buttons.  I realized, after looking at this that it kinda blended in with the fabric.  And that I had covered up most of the neato graphics of the wallet.  If you can't tell, there are moon faces wearing masks like nocturnal-Zorro or something.  Very fun!

19  Funny Bunny Illustration in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by disposableactor on: March 21, 2009 05:42:37 PM
As an artist I by no means consider this my best work . . . but I do appreciate it for what it is:  a dumb purple bunny with a carrot.

20  My Easter Themed Pendant in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by disposableactor on: March 21, 2009 05:33:31 PM
Here's a little pendant I made out of a real quail's egg, copper wire, and an aluminum flower.  On the inside of the shell it says, "As I have loved you, so you also should love one another."
